While we are on the subject of Worldwide Developers Conference 2007, Shacknews has put together all the available info on what John Carmack revealed at WWDC today.

Showcasing a highly detailed race track set in a valley--complete with banners, spectators, and vehicles--the scene was said to use over 20GB of unique textures. "They can go in and look at the world and, say, change the color of the mountaintop, or carve their name into the rock."

"We're going to be showing on a Mac, PC, PS3, and Xbox [360] at E3," he continued. "We'll have another Mac announcement at E3."

Dunno how theyre managing this, a while back they stated that all their new stuff was gonna be done on the 360 and ported over, that means direct 3d so hows that gonna work for mac? Or have id yet again done another 180 on a decision that was supposodly set in stone.

Also anyone know if the apple event is gonna have a stream later today on the apple site?

carmack, i hope the rest of your stuff goes to poop like everything since quake3, doing everything on the 360 is just flat out ASS, opengl made you what you are now, why cut out everyone who broke thier bank accounts buying hardware to play your games?

Well I would think if it’s going to be released on all those platforms it would have to be opengl which in my opinion is a good thing. If gamming on Macs catch on I see no reason why it can’t for Linux. I have been wanting to try Ubuntu for a while now but with the amount of gamming I do it just doesn’t make sense.

Yay. Another canyon followed by another tiny corridor. I think id must be a bunch of claustrophiles. I'll hold my applause until id creates a realistic outdoor scene that actually shows some out-of-doors.

Thanks for the link - hard to see the detail on the video but it looks pretty decent.

I just remember hearing about the "pixel level" stuff when doom 3 was first being talked about... what does it really mean this time around?

Gaming on a Mac? Are the developers taking into account all of the consumer Macs have an Intel integrated graphic chip? For a nice gaming system on a Mac, you need to spend $3000+.
