Can anyone recommend a good dash mount? Every one I've ever had has either come unglued from the dash within a few weeks and/or the bit that holds the phone comes loose and doesn't keep the phone still while driving.

I just bought an LG G7 and figured now is a good time to finally get a good mount, but I looked through a few pages of Amazon listings and most of them look pretty bad.

I like the magnet ones, as you mentioned their adhesive tends to suck especially if you in one of the hotter souther states.
I replaced the junk sticky tape and used some of this: https://www.amazon.com/Heavy-Duty-E...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=7MPXY5DRXT1RMKHJ3E4B
The shit hasn't moved a millimeter since, though its really tough to get off after the fact so make sure you really like that mount (I attached it to the removable trim of my console so I can replace that trim if needed long term rather than the whole dashboard).

I would also recommend ProClip. Works quite well but it does block an air vent in my Camry. Aside from that I’ve had no issues.

For my Note 8 I cobbled together something on my own. One part is the CD slot mount (the bracket slides into the CD slot - I've never found a suction mount that worked well long term) and the 2nd part is a wireless charger that charges as soon as the phone clamps down into the cradle. Works great and I don't have to cludge with plugging and unplugging usb cables.

Sometimes nice to have the air blowing on it when it gets super hot so you don't cook it.

the best bet to have a successful mounting

1. flat surface
2. clean before application

Everything is plastic crap. Buy a RAM Mount X-Grip instead.

I've been through countless car mounts for my car but now I'll never buy another brand. There is a reason RAM Mount also makes mounts for law enforcement, aviation and military applications. Hell, my X-Grip is attached to my windshield and can almost be used as a hand hold to help get in and out of the car its so sturdy.

Side note many states you can't legally attach it to the windshield (though most LEO could care less unless they're looking for a reason to pull you over).
That was my issue, combo'ed with a curved and textured dashboard makes a suction mount fail multiple times a year with temperature changes.
