Things were at least a little more tolerable in here before the X1800 launch. Now there's so much bullshit. So many people on both "sides" of this little "war" we've got going on are flinging flak at proportions I've never seen on this forum. It's rediculous... I come here to learn about and discuss new technology and all of this fan boy bullshit is getting to me. I can't believe how insecure people are with their belongings that they have to call other people out on the things they buy. And people who call other people out on being fan boys are just contributing to the problem. Hell, I might be contributing with this thread! But I really think this has gone far enough.

Can't people just stop the flaming and trolling, buy a graphics card they like, stfu and try to be civil? I don't really get why all the other forums on [H] are so much cooler than the video card forums. Yeah, I like my current setup, but I see merits to ATI's new lineup and I'm willing to give them a chance. Hell, I might be buying one when they become available. In the meantime I'm not going to flame ATI for not having the cards available.

Time is too precious to be spent arguing over nothing important.

Yeah, I agree  There needs to be a Nvidia & ATI flamewar thread stickyed, and have at it.

Some people get so driven on to one brand of video card that there mind is set to that brand being so perfect even when it has its flaws as well. I'm nuetral in ATI and Nvidia and I agree with you. Its just like how some people are so focused on the bible(this may bring some flaming but whatever) and cant open there eyes to see from both sides weather the facts are striaght or there could be other forms throwing off there judgment.

Why are kids racest if they grow up with racest parents? Why is it that a person will beleive in god if enough people around them beleive in god? I like being the odd one out in the crowd and its good. Unque is something I like.

Since they can't prove they are the coolest at school, they come here to do it. It's the internet. You can act as e-cool or as e-thuggish as you want. Even if you are a 16 year old idiot fanb0y with nothing better to do.

Me, I don't even enter Nvidia based topics. Why? Cause I don't own an nvidia card. I only care about ATi related news at the moment. Nvidia hasnt made big enough strides for me to consider going back. So I stay out of it. I wish some of the choice fanb0ys on this board would so the same.

well said. and what kills me is the fact that nvidia owners get so worked up over everything ATi does. instead of being excited about new tech or future possibilities, they troll and troll and compare benches and post stock quotes and basically grasp for any straw within reach. makes me sick. makes me not want to ever own an nvidia card again actually.

here's some advice for you guys that make agruing on this forum your entire exsistance. "UNPLUG YOURSELVES BE4 ITS TO LATE!"
You are just as guilty as the rest of us. Even more so

We de all get along. Having a heated discussion about rivaling ideas is a good thing. It's what forums are all about. Taking it personally or getting hurt feelings over it is a sad thing.

I like to argue and I have chosen sides in the debate. I don't take it personally, because I don't even plan on buying a card for at least a year. ATI & NVIDIA are both faceless corporations that I hold no allegiance to.

If you don't like the debate, it's pretty easy to stay out of it. However starting a thread to complain about it, is not going to solve anything or change anything.

Now relax, have a beer and enjoy the show.

NO we can't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I buy the fastest I can afford.. I can and can't understand the fanatics.. I can to a point because brand loyalty is a fact of life, and of course "purchase justification".. No one likes to look dumb.... I can't understand it at times because of idiots that tell me I should buy product A, when product B, is as fast or nearly as fast, but cost considerably less...
All because Nvidia or Ati or whoever it is that they don't like just sux0rs..

The bible analogy is a kind of offbase.. Ford vs. Chevy would have been a better analogy.. Comparing a product to a lifestyle/religious belief really doesn't works out too well, and can definately bring out the worst in others.. :D

Makes me recall this quote...

"Arguing on the internet is like running in the Special Olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded."

And the Bible thing is way off base. What are you even talking about? We're talking about consumer products not religion. It's not like God uses ATI or Nvidia cards :p .

True, humans have always needed confrontation, they just don't seem to like peace.

Wow your truly a misinformed idiot for this statement. Keep your bs to yourself, the 6800 series smoked whatever vaperware and paperlaunch ati tried to to throw at it. Got me to dump my 9800pro for a 6800gt SLI setup. ATI's version of SLI is just a too little too late and not enough new technology attempt to takeback marketshare it lost to Nvidia

I'm sorry but thsi is irrelevant. Despite both flagship crads last egn going missing for awhile, he was merely commenting on his own opinion.

When you buy a handgun, you buy the one that fits your hand. I personally like smith & wesson wheelguns but I'm not saying that rugers, tauruses are junk and I'm not saying that autos are junk either, it's a matter of personal preference.

Just because one video card suits your needs better doesn't mean that the rival brand doesn't suit someone elses needs better. It's truely entertaining to see people duking it out over somthing that is not that important anyways.

Well, this thread is well on it's way to being locked I am sure. In the meantime, I'll jus tsay this. The above comment is seriously closed minded. What strides does nVidia need to make? Let's see, their 6 series had better availability and won the price/performance ratio at almost every price point. Plus, SLi has been available for over a year. ATi's solution STILL can not be purchased by the average consumer today. Also, while not always the fastest, nVidia's 6 series also had more features such as SM 3.0 that ATi's last generation did not. They brought this to us and started getting the game devs to code for it. ATi did NOTHING to impliment SM3.0 at all. nVidia is helping push the industry forward. nVidia didn't bore us with a simple refresh to the 6800 series. While the 7800GTX was "based" on the 6 series features, they built a new core that gave birth to a card virtually double the speed of the 6800GT. Additionally, they hard launched the 7800 series and due to their excellent availability the cards can be purchased anywhere.

What has ATi done? Well, let's see they paper launched the X800 series, then paper launched the refreshed X850XT-PE which wasn't any better than the previous card really, but now went to dual slot. Something they bashed nVidia for doing for along time. Let's not forget that they didn't do anything with the lower end spectrum of the cards. They didn't release an AGP X700 series card for along time and depended on last generations cards, or pathetic refreshes of the older cards like the 9650XT that weren't anywhere near on par with anything nVidia has at any of the low end or mid range price brackets. Then they launched Crossfire which isn't all that great. Master cards are only now starting to show up after nearly six months of being MIA. They paper launched their chipsets wich still aren't available in large quantities and are somewhat lacking in features compared to the NF4 chipset. ATi also claimed that Crossfire was dual GPU's done better, and that the X1000 series had Shader Model 3.0 "done right", now we've found that isn't the case at all. In either claim.

All ATi has done right since they launched the X800 series was to bring us the X800XL at a excellent price. They are improving on the delivery of the X1000 series cards as they are in limited availability about a week after announcement. This is good.

You want to talk about strides nVidia hasn't been making, yet ATi's the one that hasn't made the strides. ATi's quite frankly been screwing up at everything for over a year now. I've owned my fair share of nVidia and ATi graphics cards and I've got no beef with the performance of any of ATi's cards. The X850XT-PE was a great card when it was released. The Crossfire solution has potential at least in the R500 series. Obviously the Crossfire for the X800 line sucks. 1600x1200@60hz? You've got to be kidding me. That wasn't even worth releasing. That screws alot of people with large LCD panels and those who have large CRT's won't get the needed refresh rate to make the image clean, crisp and flicker free. For the company that is supposed to be the "king" of image quality that is inexcusable.

Competition is good, and I'd like to see them succeed. We need both ATi and nVidia pushing the envelope of the industry and bringing us new technologies. As long as both companies are competetive in features, performance and price we all win. The simple fact is though, ATi hasn't had their shit together in some time I am sad to say. It seems they are at least trying now to dig themselves out of the hole now with the X1000 series. But they've pissed alot of people off by making them wait for MONTHS for a card that's only "as good" as the competetion. There is no real innovation in the X1000 series. All they've done is create alot of hype with no payoff for those who've waited.

BTW people who are hardcore loyal to one brand or another are simply cheating themselves out of better solutions by being biased. With every generation of card, I look at the reviews, the benches and then I select the card that has the best performance. If that is nVidia then so be it. If that's ATi, then that's what I will use. Both have great image quality and great performance, yet both have driver issues and problems with image quality from time to time. To side with one company or the other on a permanent basis is absurd.
That's my $.02.

your post is worthless.

Why not say: "why can't the world get along, why is there war"

I wouldn't go that far. I would go so far as to say that nVidia has been releasing available products and not wasting people's time. nVidia has been releasing products over the last year or so that offer more or the same performance as comparable ATi solutions for less money.

3DFX was dethroned form the position they held in the market in a couple short years. It can happen very quickly to either ATi or nVidia if they aren't carefull. Granted they manage their cash a bit better so that's less likely to happen. Still, ATi just needs to deliver on it's promises. They need to get their volume up so that prices can be more competetive.

nVidia isn't greater necessarily, ATi is just made some bad calls on alot of things lately. I don't understand the !!!!!!sm from either side. You look at each companies offerings from the perspective of performance, price and availability and pick the best product for your needs at the time. Nothing more nothing less. If people took a reasonable approach to the situation and compared products with an open mind, these threads wouldn't likely exist. Since people get attached to one thing or another, they get crazy and we have flamebait thread wars that get locked quickly.

Well, didn't take long for your thread to degrade into just another !!!!!! flamefest did it?

Cry more n00b, learn to play your class. :D Opps wrong forums.

Should have said, learn to tout your cards. ;)

Just kidding. I buy what ever is the "best" for me at the time. Used to be ATI, now it's currently nVIDIA for me in the GeForce 6 series, and could possibly be the ATI R600 series. It's what ever is best in the price range at the exact point of time in my purchase.

I don't need to be the 3Dmark hound, nor do I need beyond 1280x1024 yet (need a better monitor first).

Since Vista is going to require monitors that support HPDC (whatever) support in order to allow full res Blue Ray (H.624) or HD DVD playback without down conversion and "no" computer LCD display currently supports this, I'll be waiting. So massive screen resolutions and what not won't be playable for me until a year or two more down the road when these displays become cheaper.

So my 6600GT will continue to support my games and features well into the next year at the resolutions I can view anyways. So.......

Viva la 6600GT!!! ATI suxxorz

I'm getting really tired of closing these threads.....I can see we are going to have to crack a few heads to get this adjusted....just a fair warning.
