Cant play some CD's?

I am having a werid issue with playing CDs. THis just started the other day when I put my puter in a new case. Some CDs I have play fine, tohers sound very agrbled, staticy, and skippy when playing. Some CD-Rs work some dont, some originals work some dont, some mint cds work some dont, some scratched cds work some dont, there doesnt seem to be any pattery to it. I tried in both CD roms and nieher work. To make things weirded, all the MP3s on my puter play find, and I can rip the cds that work and they play fine, but whne I rip a song from a CD thats garbled when I play it, the MP3 will also be garbled when I play it. Its almost like its an issue with the audio track itself, not the burner, cd, or sound card...anyone got any ideas?

Ah, and I reintalled my sound courd twice, no help. I im using an Audigy2

Clean the CD? Try a different player?

You've pretty much narrowed it down to that.

Have you connected everything back properly? Is it the CD? Some of my mp3's have skips and pops in them, thats cause i ripped it from my old CD-ROM, and some CD's skip when playing them, so it sound like CD, no the Audigy. See if you can test it on another computer.

I cleaned the CD...its not that there dirty, it does it on CDs that dont have a scrath on them...and even if they were dirty, would it record all the pops and stactic and crap when I rip them? And I dont think its the drives either, I tried two of them

D.) What CD's do not play right? (make sure copy protected CDs are not the problem)
E.) Is the CDROM drive operating in PIO or DMA mode?

A.) I tried...Winamp 6.03 , Windows Media Player 9, Creative MediaSource, and iTunes.
B.) XP Pro
C.) Good question, wahts that?
D.) Its completly random, some work and some dont
E.) Another good quesiton, how do I check?
F.) Used Windows Media Player, Winamp, and iTunes.

A.) The number of player you have tried indicates the drive is in PIO mode.
B.) Kinda figured.....
C.) Since you are using XP pro you can use Atomic XP to install and aspi layer on your system. It is also a pretty cool tweak utility ... even though it's old.
D.) That depends on what drivers you have installed ... manufacturer specific drivers are a PITA cause they are all different.
The standard windows drivers allow you to change the settings in the device manager.
E.) Eacat Audio Copy will make clicks and pops in your MP3's a bad memory.
Note: you will also need Lame and possibly a good tutorial.

THe atomic XP didht help a thing. And I dont just wnat to be able to copy music, I want to listen to CD's....waht else can I try?

is it AUDIO CD's only?

Check to see if the audio connector from your CDROM drive is connected to your sound card. If its there, see if replacing it helps the matter.

I don't know if you meant sound CARD or sound CORD...
