With the rig in my sig, i cant get my e2200 over 3 ghz. Its at 275fsb, 11 multi, 1.41 volts and the ram is at a 1:1.25 ratio running at ddr2 825. Is 3 ghz just the ceiling or... My temps are fine, but whenever i push it past like 3080 mhz, it doesnt boot into windows.

You might need more voltage on your RAM or CPU...

Maybe try dropping your multi and increasing FSB?

Have tried putting your RAM at 1:1 then going over 3 ghz? Could be your DDR2-800 doesn't like running any higher than DDR2-825.

Could be that 3 ghz is your ceiling, although if your temps are fine more volts could get you a little higher probably.

might need to put more voltage on the north bridge. or loosen memory timings.

im a noob to messing with the timings, and id rather not royally screw it up, because i just got this stuff. The ram can run over 825 mhz, i tried putting a little more voltage into the nb but that didnt help, maybe ill try a little more.

you can pretty much only cook ram by overolting. loosening timings actually reduces stress put on the memory. don't overvolt the north bridge as an overheating nb can actually do damage to your ram (the north bridge is the memory controller).

so what do you reccomend setting the timings to, i believe stock 5-5-5-15

you can go 6-6-6-18 which would be the loosest timings i would ever run with cl5 modules. maybe 5-6-6-15. if nothing seems to work, you may already be at your cpu's ceiling.

Like previously suggested, keep the RAM and FSB at a 1:1 Ratio. Core 2 Duo systems do not benefit from having the RAM faster than the FSB. So a 1:1 ratio is your best bet.

What are your temps? What HSF are you using?

Drop RAM to 1:1, leave timings at stock, that'll let you ignore RAM as the source of problems up to 400Mhz FSB, which you aren't getting near with that chip. Running outside of 1:1 on Intel platforms offers no real advantage anyway, outside benches. If you put them up to 2.0, 2.1vdimm you may even be able to go to 4-4-4-12 or lower, depending on the quality of the sticks. My OCZ DDR2-800 5-5-5-18 sticks will do 4-4-4-12 at 2.1vdimm happily. Don't run too hot either.

What's your current vcore before and after vdroop (what is it set to in BIOS, and what does coretemp say it is under load in Windows)? Bump it up .05-.1 and try for 3.2Ghz.

Know that many of these chips top out somewhere between 3.0 and 3.2Ghz, though. They're less expensive for a reason -- lower binned.

right now, its set at 1.46 i believe, and under prime95 load, coretemp shows it at 1.325. so far with these settings, its been stable through prime95 at 3.18ghz for ~20 minutes with the max load temp being around 43c.

heh, right after i posted that last message, it crashed. I upped the voltage on the cpu and northbridge a couple notches and its prime stable for 2.5 hours.

Scythe Ninja( the rev.b one) with a yate loon high speed fan mounted. (~80cfm). right behind the ninja i have another yate loon of the same speed, above the ninja i have yet another yate loon of the same speed and a quiet coolermaster fan and on the side panel i have two silent 120 mm coolermaster fans.
