I have been without a proper desktop for quite a while but Recently I was given a new (to me) Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 (rev. 3.0) mother board. I added a PNY Geforce GT 610 1 gb graphics card and two 1 gig sticks of Kingston KVR1066D3N7K2/2G DDR3 just to get the thing booted but can't get the monitor to even detect any input.

I have tried all of the different outputs on the graphics card on two different monitors and even tried a different graphics card with no change. I did look up the compatible memory for this particular motherboard and while it does include KVR1066D3N7/2G it does not include KVR1066D3N7K2/2G. Is that my problem?

What are your power supply specs? it may not be providing enough power to the video card..
or you have a dead video card.. the type of memory has nothing to do with the video not working..
Try the card in another pc and see if it works.
you tried another video card and it didn't work either? that narrows it down to the power supply or motherboard, try installing the videocard in a different slot?
IF that dosent work then i suspect you got a faulty board or power supply. i'm betting on it being the power supply.
reset the bios on the motherboard, try that

1. remove card and open BIOS

set Graphics to PEG
set Internal to disabled

min memory stick size is 1GB (single side populated). if you are using double sided sticks you are SOL if they are low density chips

The motherboard has no video outputs, they are only on the graphics card.
