I have two hard drives, one 80GB and the other 250GB. I reformatted the 80GB one and installed windows. Now when I try to acces the 250GB one it says "the drive H is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?"

The 250GB is indeed already formatted with the ntfs file system and has been for some time. It contains all my files, music, "films" etc etc as it was used for mainly backup. I dont know why windows thinks it not formatted. Any ideas?

did u set the jumper setting to slave? and put it on the slave cable? also xp doesn't recognize file sizes over 136 for some reason, u need to get a patch or parition it using partition magic.

Windows XP. Myabe I diodnt make myself clear. The drive is exactly as it was before i reformatted the other (main os) drive. No hard drives were touched. I reformatted my 80Gb drive and somehow in the process my 250Gb one has been killed.

You did reformat the 80 gig with NTFS correct? If not, that would probably expain your problem. Also, was the drive encrypted? If so, that could be another problem.

I have a couple of programs telling me that the drive file system is RAW. whatever that means.

You said you reinstalled Windows XP. XP needs service pack 1 to recognize drives larger than 137 GB. Do you have SP 1 installed?

i said that first "also xp doesn't recognize file sizes over 136 for some reason, u need to get a patch or parition it using partition magic."

I wish everybody used linux:( Mr Poopy Gates needs a kick in the head :D Too complicated for most though. Microsofts days are numbered methinks;)
