So it appears that i cant get my Athlon 2400 to 200FSB or even 133 for that matter. I'll try to change the FSB setting in bios and it goes to restart then monitor shuts off and thats it. I have to flash bios and it goes back to 100 FSB.

Am i missing somethin, i was gonna try to overclock but cant even get to 200. :(

i have the same problem, come to find out, its the orriginal nforce2 boards we have, they support 400mhz to the ram, but only 333 to the cpu, from what i hear even if you bought a 3200+ with a 400 fsb, it wouldnt be stable, need to get one of the boards with the ultra400 north bridge inorder to get there.... the down side to that is, no ultra 400 boards where ever released with soundstorm, (which i recently had crap out on me... so now i need a new mobo as it is tyed to the south bridge, it also took 4 usb ports with it, i wouldnt be supprised if the nforce NIC is fubar as well... but at least it still shows under device manager) there isnt much you can do to make it work.... i found my stable limit was around 185fsb.... your milage may vary

I have my Abit VA-20 at 177mhz right now on an AthlonXP 2700. I have new ram on the way though. My current ram is 256x2 and one is a PC2700 the other PC3200, both generic brands. With the auto-spd setting it went like 2-3-3-6 or something. I bumped every one up a point to 3-4-4-7 and I was able to get from 174 to 177. So hopefully the new ram (Patriot Signature PC3200 2x512) and new power supply (Seasonic S12-330W) will allow me to get a little higher.

So the whole point here is that it might be the Nforce chipset you have and not neccasarily that Abit boards suck at overclocking, because mine uses the VIA set and overclocks pretty good so far.

The way my board works is that there are jumpers on the board that do 100, 133, 166, 200. I set those as the base FSB, and then the BIOS allows me to go increment it 1 mhz up until the next base speed. When I put it to 200mhz, it won't even turn on.

You chip probably can't handle the jump from 333 to 400 FSB (166 to 200).

If thats to me, I wouldn't doubt it....though it could be the PC2700 memory itself. Besides it might be over enthusiastic to expect a AthlonXP 2700 to do 2.6Ghz  I would settle for 2.4 though.

The RAM might help, but 2.6 is probably out of reach :).

And to whoever said the ultra400 boards don't have soundstorm...Why do you say that? I never heard about that. I have a NF7 v.2 here and a DFI Lanparty Ultra B downstairs...I'll have to look (both are for sale also btw :D ).

Edit: NF7 has a Realtek ALC650 chip on it.

The rev 1.02 asus a7n dlx mobos can't do the 200fsb...probably the same for the abit boards if it's one of the earlier revisions. My mobile 2500+ barton can do 2.6 on a dfi lp board, but it's stuck at 2.4 on my old asus mobo.

it is the pc2700 memory, get some ddr400, pc3200 and itll be fine, but if the board only does 333fsb on the cpu, yea ur done, may as well get a new board....

i like my msi k7n2 delta l.....just stick 2500 in, set fsb to 200mhz, and save...boots up as 3200, no need to change voltage or anything, it just works

I have the old origional N-force board as well, only 333 FSB supported.

I am able to run 400 FSB though...

I had to replace the Heatsink on the Northbridge to get it stable at 400 FSB...

Also When I first change the FSB I have to up it to 180, let the machine start up, then go back into bios and change to 200. It will NOT let me go straight from 333 to 400...

However after I do this 1 or 2 times untill I can get it to boot up to 400 FSB, it runs prime stable for 48 hours +...

If I ever unplug the power compleatly from the PC, I can't boot up unless I reset the Cmos and follow this procedure again...If I Try jumping straight from 333 to 400 the PC will not boot up and I have to reset te CMOS...

My board also like to choose 100MHZ default!
