Can you still try Windows 10 without a key?

I remember reading you could download the install media from MS, and install Windows 10 without a key and it would work for some time.

Is this still the case? I am just interested in getting some first hand impressions instead of all the second hand ones I have been reading. But I have no immediate interest in actually switching to Windows 10. Just trying it on a secondary HD.

You can use it indefinitely without a key in unactivated mode. Unactivated mode artifically restricts a few things like changing the wallpaper and some other settings, but it will give you enough to do what you are trying to do.
