Can you fit one of THESE in a regular computer?

The interface says IDE, but is it the same as those laptop connectors with the power and the IDE put together?

If anyone has done this please send me some links or turtorials.

Thanks for your help!

It can be done, but you'll need to do a few things:
1) Make your own mounting brackets
2) Get an adapter (40-pin IDE + power -> 44-pin)
3) Do something with the bezel so it looks decent, or just make your own case (this is, after all, the modding forum :) ).

theres no doubt in my mind that would work in your PC. however, i dont know that that drive is worth the extra effort

PC Alchemy sells pre-made brackets for just that purpose. You can fit 2 drives in one opening. THey also sell the IDE adapter you'll need.

Thanks SarverSystems -
I was cleaning today and came across a DVD slimdrive and wondered if I could do anything with it.!

Oh and BTW Ill reply to this thread when I'm done with my project here...

then you can tell me if it was worth it ;)

what i did is get one of these

and just use the circuit board. the plastic casing is all but useless to mount a drive in. it squeeses it and it wont eject. using just the board though, makes any slimdrive a decent USB2.0 interface device.
