A friend of mine sold his DVD but kept a backup copy. Somehow there is no audio in his backup copy. Can it be fixed?

AudioTS folder is always empty.

Why would there be something there? I've never seen a AudioTS that has something inside.

He also made a AVI file, which has perfect audio, but is there a way to extract audio from an AVI file?

Go to Adobe.com get premiere pro demo. It comes with free forever program called media encoder (youll need a 64bit OS to run it I think. But there's others if you don't have that). Convert AVI to WAV.

You should be able to extract it with any number of free/opensource programs like virtualdub or avidemux. AVI is just a container format with audio/video streams.

Okay, say he extracts it. How do you merge that audio file w/ the DVD backup he make?

Well, He needs to get the video into a usable format. Handbrake can do this free. Then, he has to merge the audio with the video in a video authoring program. I use Sony Vegas. It works pretty well for me.
