Calling Out EvilAlchemist

No do what I did install a 13 watt flourescent (sp) lamp. 900 lumens avg of a 60 watt bulb and it gives you 47 more watts for boxen! :p

Yeah, I gots to agree with this post. What I did was order 24x flourescent bulbs thru Ebay and have almost switched all my reg light bulbs to the 13w flourescent bulb curly cue things.(supersized or cheaper by the couple of dozen :D)

The only snag I ran into was in my kitchen (I have a 1x bedroom apartment) after changing over to the flourescent bulbs some of the new bulbs stuck out too far to replace the glass covers (the slight hallway entrance also has a non fitting glass cover, but who cares, I hardly ever use it ). In my brilliant thinking I cured these small problems, I just left them off, who needs a glass cover anywhoo (it looks kinda' rustic and a good conversation piece with the bulbs all hangin' out :p), just something for the non existant bugs and dust to get into. I live on the 7th floor, I don't ever see any bugs up this high except for maybe the too legged kind. ;)

In all honesty I can't tell any difference in the kitchen (bare overhead fixture, I never use the stove 12v light deal) or the living room (two table lamps and a pole lamp), but I can sure tell the difference in the bathroom. (some kinda' bar light fixture, four reg bulbs) :)

FWIW I bit on the 13w flourescent bulbs as power savers. I'll be more certain after my first electric bill with them installed. Who knows maybe I'll save enough for another folding rig, don't really matter, I had plans for another boxen anyway. (you know we gots to challenge the chumps (err.. I mean chimps) on the other teams

All my lights in the house, are the 13 bulbs ..

Just this one darn floor light the g/f purchased .....

Seeing what I can do about that now!

Ahahah .. Success

Had an extra FL blub ...
down to 13 watts now

But I am still glad I moved those two PC's into the living room.
Helped get some of the heat out of this room!

Only florescent I have is the one in my kitchen. All the rest of the bulbs are incandescent just the way I like. I end up spending most of my time in the living room and the light of a 17" CRT, 19" CRT and 24" LCD are enough to light things up to my satisfaction. If I need more light when working on a computer I use a flashlight.

I know all about the heat as well. It was getting up to 88F in the living room with every window and door open. It has now cooled off a bit and with one window and the sliding glass door cracked open it's down to 71F. My computers are much happier now since none of them are above 55C under full load.

With respect SmokeRngs:

I'm suprised as [H]ard a folder as you are you don't use candles if you need more light instead of a flashlight. But then I forgot, your flashlight is probably one of those "solar" powered ones. :D
