I've been in contact with Chris via phone, I'd suggest that if you still have an outstanding debt/issue that you do the same. They do answer their phone.

He's either real stupid and doesn't care about his career or he's so knee deep in shit that he's real stupid and doesn't care :D

holli4pirating, all he said is that he will TRY to pay me back in 4 weeks time, he can't even gaurantee anything. Has he refund all ur money yet? how much did he owe you?

He said it would be a few weeks before he'd be able to send a refund, but he does have the Raptor he "sold" me. Yesterday/day before he said he'd ship it today, but today he emailed to say that the weather's real bad. I checked on weather.com, and they do indeed have freezing rain and a weather advisory.

Is he just pulling my leg and drawing it out...maybe. But then again, when he returned here under the dk' name there was a post in which he was looking for me to get me the drive. Also, they are answering the phone, so that's a good sign. We'll see.

i'm in iowa and i can verify that it is pretty bad here weather-wise, and it's only supposed to get worse the next 24 hours. i mean seriously, people are stocking up at the store like it's a freaking apocolypse, or a nuclear attack and they have to stock their bomb shelter

anyway, it makes it kind of hard to get to the PO.

Chances are though, you'd think the fingerprinting from the station would tell his tale to the police depending on how long he's been in--still it still may be possible they don't know.

It is entirely possible they don't know, because a routine NCIC fingerprint check will only return CORY criminal history, or aliases. IE: If he was AWOL - it would show up, and the nearest duty station would get contacted (unless it came with contact info). An arrest would not necessarily generate contact (a conviction usually will).

Dude - that Raptor he "sold" you is the same Raptor he "sold" me. He's FOS. He took my $90 for that Raptor I never saw.

i love paypal

After careful review, we have concluded our investigation of the Buyer Complaint described below.

We have decided in your favor, however, we were unable to recover any funds from the seller's account. As stated in the PayPal User Agreement, recovery of funds associated with a Buyer Complaint cannot be guaranteed.

what a useless company when the shit hits the fan.

useless indeed, anyways filled out their cust. survey and gave them a nasty nasty nasty review. :)

As far as I know from talking to him, he had two Raptors, so you might want to give him a call and see if he has yours.

so has anyone got updates from Chris Chartier these few days?

I just got off the phone with him, and he said he is heading off to the post office to ship the Raptor. I asked him to send me the tracking information when he gets back, so I'll let you guys know if I get a valid number.

BTW, based on the voices of the people who have answered the phone, there is at least one other male and one female around. If they answer the phone, I'd guess they live there. Perhaps the "mom" he posted about is the female.

Ok thanks, I will probably call him end of this week to see hows the money thing going..

Well I didn't hear back from Chris all day, so I finally gave him a call. He said that the drives he has are different from what he initially said he had (8 meg cache instead of 16). He has given me his word that he will ship the drive tomorrow via USPS Priority and send a tracking number. We also agreed on a $$ amount that he would include to make up for the difference in specs.

Note: I'd called earlier in the afternoon, but he wasn't home. The woman that I spoke with said that she had just dropped Chris off at the post office. When I spoke with him this evening, he said that he had gone to ship out a CPU, not the hard drive, so perhaps someone's CPU is finally on the way.

Why is he being dropped off at the PO? and why didn't he bring your drive with him? He's clearly stalling again. Refunding some peoples money to make him look like he's trying to make himself look good so that other will hold off a bit longer. This wouldn't be the first or even the second time he's used this tactic.

I think twelfth or thirteenth.

I'm just keeping everyone updated with the information that I have regarding my experience, and I'm trying to be unbiased. I can only speak from my own experiences, and I would suggest that everyone else speak only from theirs.

I don't know why Chris didn't send out my drive when he went to the post office, but I would guess it is because it was a different model than the one he sold me. When he did get back to me, he offered to include money in addition to the hard drive to make up for the difference. That right there is a plus in my opinion.

I do not see this as an indication that he is "clearly stalling."

Other than it's been close to two months and there is still $4000 missing from his Paypal account and he somehow doesn't have money to ship things out? I'm still wondering why nobody has asked him why his Paypal account was emptied but now he claims not to have money to ship things with. Where exactly did $4000 go again?

Perhaps I missed a post, but I'm not sure where it was said that he didn't have money to ship things out. I do recall reading that he didn't have money to refund people, which does make me wonder where the money went.

Know what... ill give him a call at the end of this week, but If never seen my money again, I hope he eats we'll and keeps warm this winter and thinks of all of us atleast.

Least he could do really. :p

Just got a reply from him 10 minutes ago. Here is what I said:
"I've been thinking about your last email and I got a quick question. Why the 2-6 weeks wait time? At this point your word doesn't mean much especially after you scammed over 15 people for over $4k and emptied your paypal account when people were requesting their refunds. Is this going to turn into another big hassle with you saying one thing and
doing another?"

Here is what he replied with:
"because i just started these two jobs, i dont have much money on me just enough for gas to go to work everyday..

i dont know if i started in the middle of a paycheck week or not so it would be 2-3 weeks before i got my checks, then i dont even know if that will cover everyone so i said 2-6 weeks incase i cant cove it one my first check."

Its funny how $4k only covers gas

Found it, it was an email to jaded25, I guess he's actually questioned him... sort of. No answer how $4k disappeared though.

I wasn't denying that the money disappeared (I was a little suspicious about the wait time for a refund too), but that doesn't say anything (as far as I can tell) about not having money for shipping. As I said, he said that he shipped out a CPU today and that he'd be shipping out my Raptor tomorrow.

From my phone conversations with him, it seems that he does have money to ship things and is indeed shipping things.

Like I said, I'm just trying to stick to the facts and keep people up to date with the information that I have.

As I posted before, regarding the wait time on a refund, when I had asked for my money back, he told me that I'd have to wait for a refund, but that he had the hard drive and would ship it however I wanted.

To give another update I just emailed him again last night. Here is what I sent:
"What exactly did you do with the $4k that everyone paid you (including me)? You don't exactly spend that much money just on gas."

Here is his reply:
"It was in paypal.. i spent maybe $1k on shipping and a few christmas gifts for my family i didnt touch anymore than that.. paypal has alot of peoples money ive been trying to get them on the phone but i cant get them to answer im always on hold for hours.. theres atleast 6 people that i know paypal has the money."

I just sent him another email asking him if spent $1k on shipping then why didn't he just ship out the supposed products. @holli4pirating don't believe a word this kid is saying, unless you like believing other people's bullshit. It seems like this kid is never going to stop with his excuses and bullshit and its really pissing me off. Another thing if there is even any money in his paypal account as he claims then why the hell hasn't anyone seen any sort of refund?!!

Thanks for the reply Jaded25. I guess he wants everyone to think that paypal stole your money

His reply reminds me of the Simpsons, when Bart doesn't have to go to school, so he goes to the bank to start trouble:

Bart: "Whaddya mean there's no more money?" "Only enough money for the next three customers!"
*everyone runs to windows screaming*
Bank Teller: "No, no, now hold on a second, now uhhh, I don't have your money, uhh, Frank, yeah, Frank has your money, go see Frank at his house"
Moe: "Hey Frank, what the hell are ya doing with my money??"
*Fight breaks out*

Ok, sorry, that was random and off-topic, but kind of fun. Anyways, I've been following this thread since the beginning, although I wasn't a part of the scam. But I don't like to see people still putting faith in this guy after 2 months of lying, even if a couple people did get some stuff back, it's the same thing that happened before. The EXACT same thing: Refund or make a couple people happy to make everyone second-guess. Paypal doesn't have his money, he does, and he's being very slow about getting it back to everyone.

And just so people don't forget how cocky and stupid he actually is, remember what he was being like in one of his many pseudo-aliases, ie. dk_unlimited?

what reason do i have to post in the forsale section? just because i pm someone with something i wanted and didnt bump there thread means im LF thats really in insult to me..

i got about 1/4($10) of my money returned via usps money order.

item i bought wasnt too expensive.. only $50 item.. was a 1gb set of ddr400 ram geil ram.

people join everyday man.. just like yall accussing prentice of being LF when he wasn't..
you guys here at [H] really are dicks..

how would i even have a receipt when his mom was the one who shipped me the ram and refund? stop fucking accusing people..

Maybe we should be accusing people more often?

I dont think he has refunded anyone money yet, other than DK_unlimited or whatever, which turns out to be Chris Chartier himself.

Wel if paypal has his money, I m pretty sure some of us would have recovered some when we had our dispute decided in our favor.. but I dont think anyone has recovered any $$ from the dispute

or is someone not telling us?

Anyways, I will give him till the end of this week.. the 2 weeks he claimed that he needed is up by then anyways.. I will be taking more action if he keeps on his stalling tactics, its getting old and its time to put a stop to it.

Nothing will stop this behavior until the consequences of his actions are clear to him.

The only way that will happen is by punishment.
Disregard the lies, Disregard the tears, Disregard the age and boggling level of deceit and immaturity.

Focus on saving all of the future victims of this person's lies and scams a lot of headache, heartache, stress, and lost money.

No one should allow Logitechfreak / Chris and inch of wiggle room.
Let him pay for his actions to the fullest extent of the law and as much above and beyond that as anyone is able to get out of him.

He knows what he did.
He did it over and over.
He then lied about it.
And then tried to cover his tracks, over and over.
He cried about it and begged forgiveness.
And now that people have given him their trust to abuse a second time, he's doing it all again.

He is a habitual liar and a person of low moral standard who's own mother (if that's who it really is) continues to facilitate and enable his behavior.

Sad.

I can't speak for everyone, but I took every action that I could. I filed a dispute on PayPal, I called and emailed his local police, I filed a report with my local police and sent that information to his local police. Nothing has been done by the law thus far.

Now, I have gotten in touch with Chris and I'm working to get the hard drive that he sold me. Unless his local police begin to persue the case, that is all I can do. I am not giving him my trust, nor am I giving him wiggle room, and I'd bet that everyone in communication with Chris is in a situation similar to mine.

hey Holli, dont worry, thats the most we can all do. and no1 will blame you. Its only people who didnt bother to file reports locally that pissed me off.

I will try my best to keep up w/ the situation and find every possible way to send a message to Chris that I won't give this up until everyone has recovered their money. Hopefully we can see the light at the end of the tunnel soon, or that everyone will finally wake up and file reports.

So how can we report to his CO, I am pretty sure it is him and will be able to get more information about his military stuff if it is indeed him

I will be preparing to do this if he doesnt get his act together, and start refunding victims their money.

at least thats where the listed number goes to. but if he was state side its probably where he might have been last.
Just get a army guy to querry him in a tracking database to find any unit member

But the number listed goes to his CQ desk. Which if called a MTL will know who or look him up in the database

At long last, Chris has called me to tell me he shipped out my hard drive and gave me the tracking number. Currently, there is no record of the number, but that could just be because it shipped today and USPS is very slow to update tracking information on their site. I'll let you guys know when there is an update in status.

He said he wasn't shipping via USPS anymore

Ah yes, I checked USPS and you guys are right, no tracking on Priority. Perhaps the number is a DC number instead.

Priority says two to three day delivery, so I guess for the time being I'll wait and see if anything arrives. If not, back to where I was before.

Just remember that today was the busy shipping day of the year for USPS. It could take a week for Priority shipments to make it through. Their 2-3 day guarantee is worthless this time of year.

Horrible to hear guys has anyone gottin a refund?? I sent him another email to check up on what the status on his money situation ive got nothing back as of yet, and even if he is Lieing "so what really" thats nothing new hes lied for 2 months now, he also obviously not going anywere.

Guy lives with his mom and commits crimes??, just tell you what kinda of person were dealing with here. You have to have alot of disrespect for that.

To everyone who is/has a transaction gone sour w/Chris:

I spoke with Chris today at length. You can forget about the military. It's been confirmed that the information is not him. ...I confirmed it via various sources.

I don't have any transactions with the kid but I do know his situation. He's a liar, yes. He's broke, yes. His integrity is shot at the moment and you know what? There's very few options left here before taking a very negative route that hurts many people, not just Chris.

I will say this. People do real stupid things when they're desperate. And that doesn't imply it's okay--simply a fact of life.

OT: He has some items on hand that he can't deliver due to lack of funds. These items are the first on the attention list. So if you're a mobo or case buyer, you might get your items soon. That's the only first step that Chris can take at the moment.

Time is the only way to salvage what's left of this crappy and unfair situation. If you don't have the time to let the boy make right, you're likely just holding your breath. If you're willing to wait, and the boy makes right on a new arrangement, maybe there's a favorable end in site.

Anything he does from this point can't make up for all the hurt, anger and disgust--I know and understand that. WE all have a right to a timely transaction from integrity based sellers--and it's unfortunate that everyone here didn't get to enjoy that fundamental right.

After talking with him, many things were apparent. You want to know more, PM me.

I am just trying to help some of you. I cant make any real promises--I can only try. We can only hope to see incremental successes as Chris gets his shit together.

If he doesn't, then he get's what he deserves...and he know's exactly what can happen if he doesn't try.

Just to update, using the number he gave me, I got the following information off the USPS Track & Confirm section:
Package was accepted in Waynesville, MO (17th); package was processed at Springfield, MO (17th); Package was processed at Rochester, NY (18th) (I do indeed live in Rochester).

Normally our campus post office sends us an email to let us know a package has arrived for us, and I did not receive any email about it today. Perhaps tomorrow will be my lucky day. Should the hdd arrive tomorrow, I'll just have time to pick it up and test it out before I have to fly outta here for some well deserved vacation.

Check tomorrow for an update.

Yeah, I've been traveling, so here's the current situation:

The package arrived yesterday, but I had already flown out of Rochester. I got an email from our campus post office to notify me that I had indeed received a package. I emailed Chris to let him know that I was assuming it was indeed the package that he'd sent, but that I was unable to verify it's contents or whether or not the hard drive that I'm assuming is inside works, and whether or not he had enclosed the $ amount we'd agreed on. I also told Chris that if the hard drive was not in there, if it didn't function, wasn't under warranty as it was supposed to be, and if the money was not enclosed, he'd be hearing from me when I returned

Chris wrote me back saying that the hard drive was indeed in the package, but that he was not able to enclose the money since he doesn't have any.

So, unfortunately, I cannot say that the deal is finished. Since Chris put me off for so long after I was finally able to get in touch with him, I'm no longer at school and I'll not be able to conclude the deal or provide any updates until I get back in three weeks. All I can say is that I cannot confirm or deny that I received the hard drive in question, but Chris does still owe me money.
