Just got a reply from him 10 minutes ago. Here is what I said:
"I've been thinking about your last email and I got a quick question. Why the 2-6 weeks wait time? At this point your word doesn't mean much especially after you scammed over 15 people for over $4k and emptied your paypal account when people were requesting their refunds. Is this going to turn into another big hassle with you saying one thing and
doing another?"

Here is what he replied with:
"because i just started these two jobs, i dont have much money on me just enough for gas to go to work everyday..

i dont know if i started in the middle of a paycheck week or not so it would be 2-3 weeks before i got my checks, then i dont even know if that will cover everyone so i said 2-6 weeks incase i cant cove it one my first check."

I emailed him last night and this is what he told me:

sorry x,

a refund will be issued in 2-6 weeks via a money order through fedex or ups. please send me your full name a address

also could you please provide the paypal transaction id so can update paypal once the refund has been issued.
 
There is some good in everyone, Sometimes they just have to be reminded of what can be taken away.

"Hey" It could be another Lie to buy more time, But if there is any good in him people will get the money back.

By the looks of the person answering his Email address, It looks like 50% him 50% his mom... or maybe hes taken on a split personality from his traumatic experiance.

What are the chances that a 40+ year old woman knows shit about computers, let alone what a "bad sector" is? Or WTF the difference is between a 6600GT and a 7600GT is?
Any woman I know that knows anything like that works in IT, and most likely doesn't live on some back road in Missouri, 100 miles from the nearest self respecting IT company.
Also, any woman that intelligent would most likely raised the kid better, unless this kid has mutated into some incurable sociopath.
If his mother HAS done everything possible, and if she is in fact the one helping out, then she deserves a medal while this kid needs to go through another round of boot camp. The kid is over 18, and she shouldn't have to fix his mess. This asshat needs to learn responsibility. I don't care if he was in over his head.


I'm sorry, but I just don't believe anything that has been said thus far, by LF or his mother if she even exists. If I were you guys, I wouldn't either. It's a shame that so few sent in police reports, even if they were scammed for a small amount. Those selfish people hurt the chances of those who were scammed for larger amounts, and as a result, CHRIS CHARTIER WILL STRIKE AGAIN.

I know someone posted an email earlier where you can send your complaint about Chris, the case is closed or something? Is that the same thing as filing a report?

At this point I think it would work better to be filing that police report if you haven't already.

I'm not saying he's not working to refund your guys money, maybe he really is, but from what I've seen over this whole thread is $4000-6000 US Dollars somehow go to his Paypal account, get locked, have him say "everyone will get their money back", then find out it was emptied. Some (very few), got a refund of their money, maybe because they made a big fuss or he wanted to keep the loud ones from making a post like this. Now he asks for 2-6 weeks for the refund because "he needs to pay for gas". He's been to jail on a completely separate issue, but now everyones willing to wait 6 weeks for a refund? He has at least $4000 SOMEWHERE, yet only has enough money to get to work and back? I know gas prices are up, but use your heads....

Looking at the whole thing, does he seem like a trustworthy guy you should wait 6 weeks for? If you guys are actually still in contact with him, why don't you ask him where all that paypal money went? If you really still don't want to file bad heat or file a police report like you should have a month ago, why not ask him a few questions? If he doesn't answer them, ask again. Ask until you get an answer.

If you drop $20 on the street and it gets blown away, wouldn't you run after it? Why is internet fraud so much different? Get your damn money back and whatever you do, please don't give him another 6 weeks.

Not sure what flying to his house would do... beat him and his mom up? Go team!

He was in jail for something else, but was being held so that everyone could file their police reports. They only received 3, so they let him go.

No, they could asses the situation, talk to Chris and his mom (if she's indeed involved) and verify that things are on the up and up. No-one needs to be beaten up, yelled or even talked to crossly. If the person paying the visit sees that things are as the sheriff's officer on the case was led to believe they are then the folks that are waiting on refunds could have some room to exhale rather than not knowing.
 
Call everyone in the area with the same last name as him until you find a relative and can get ahold of his dad or his mom.

Or, call the service that he's in, if he hasn't already been discharged, and report him.

Similar thing happend to me a couple of years back with a video card.. I paid via USPS MO, the package 'gets lost in the mail' and then for about 2 weeks the guy jerks me around saying he can't find his receipt, oh he found it then lost it in his car, etc etc. I finally got fed up with him not answering my calls, searched around a while until I found his parent's address.

I filed a police report, got in contact with the officers in that area, and then called his dad and told him I was going to have to press charges if this couldn't be straightened out.

Once I talked to his, dad, within 6 hours, he had straightened him out and promised me that his kid would send me my money back within 2 weeks. (this was a 20 year old kid btw)

I highly recommend FILING A POLICE REPORT if you have not already. I don't care whose jurisdiction they say it is in, you need to annoy the heck out of them until you get someone to take a report. Then you need to find people that can put pressure on this kid and let them know that you're pursuing this with the police.

I would assume he's not using his home computer, as I'm sure they can track IP's, but maybe going to friends, using public computers, etc. I don't think it would be possible to complete ban him.

I still don't get why not EVERYONE is filing reports I wonder if the victims are even reading this thread anymore!!

I am sure they county will do something if there are enough reports, the case is just being assigned to another officer and has lower priority.. whats the best way to get it back to high priority? I think I dont need to keep repeating myself!!!
 
hes already coming back to the forum and possibly other forums.. for the people who got scammed A SMALL AMOUNT and didnt report... dont be surprise next time ur scammed by the same person if we don't put him to justice for good.. its totally possible

Edit: Well ok, its closed in the County Sheriffs dept, but its still assigned to another deputy.

I don't remember seeing anywhere that he was in the service, but if it is true, this is the way to go. You will see results from the U.C.M.J. Just don't report it to a direct supervisor - the higher you go the better.

I think he told a few of us who chatted with him prior to the debacle that he's in the Army Reserve. Or something in the Army.

Specifically, he told me he makes bank off the Army doing logistical support. I think it was driving stuff around, but don't quote me; something along the lines of non-combat.

As far as the Military aspect is concerned..

You can do this, find the nearest Army/National Guard center, call them, and see if you can figure out what command he's under, then get in touch with that particular Commanding Officer...

Not sure if this is him. I didn't read everything. I saw something about the military and this is what I was able to get from the Army's Active and Retired Site.

Nad neither name came up searching the National Guard Database. Doesn't mean he's not ANG, just didn't come up during that search.

Edit: Took out the second name as it can't be this guy. The other is overseas and an NCO. I doubt this would be the work of an NCO.

Because we don't know why and they (his company) doesn't know either, you all may have more leverage than you think when it comes to getting your money back. Even if he's in a RESERVE status, he is supposed to follow the same rules and policies as our AD counterpart. That said, he is totally in violation of his oath and could be subject to UCMJ (bad). More than likely, if he played the "military card" when he got arrested, his CO would have definately been notified making his life a REAL shitty. A dishonerable DC from a reserve component carries just as much weight as one from active duty. It'll make it difficult for this guy to have any sort of life, reduce his educational benefits and risks discrimination the work force especially those that do background checks on their employees. He can look forward to flipping burgers if he's been caught. Chances are though, you'd think the fingerprinting from the station would tell his tale to the police depending on how long he's been in--still it still may be possible they don't know. Lastly, even if his CO does know and tries to handle things in house, if you make a big enough stink, his chain of command will have to get involved and THAT will prompt action.

Bottom line, if this is a soldier--he screwed. I'm not about to read all the BS on 17 plus pages so I don't know everything. I do like to think I know the Army very well though ;). GL to all that got screwed by our fallen brother.

I will be preparing to do this if he doesnt get his act together, and start refunding victims their money.
