Yes claim was escalated. Can anyone tell me the procedure? Do I just sit here and wait for 30 days?

Also he said he can't even login to paypal (true or lie?) how can he "prove" his case?

Report has already been filed... yesturday... all tho I want my merch I know he probly doesnt have it anyways so I figure since people would file complains with paypal I may as we'll do one up ahead of time because his account will be locked up the time it gets escolated anyways.

I reported a claim, but I haven't escalated yet. I'm giving him until Wednesday then I'll escalate it.

I was in the same boat as you, just a few months later. Did a crosstrade with my x2-3800+ for his antec neoHE PSU. I shipped it out quickly +cash, but he didn't ship it out until a week later or so. From the date I shipped, it was just about two weeks for me to get the PSU, but it stank of smoke. You can't get rid of that stuff, and I'm heavily alergic to sig smoke. I ended up selling the psu at a loss, but mentioned to the next buyer about the smoke.

He said the delay in shipping was caused by his local usps store. Said they held the packages he was shipping out, but failed to tell him. I believe him on that one, but from what I'm gathering, he's using the online ship, and guessing the weight wrong, drops them off and usps sits on them.

I gave him a neutral rating, since I did eventually get the item, but it wasn't as stated, and it did arrive late. I couldn't give him a positive rating since that would be lying. Check his response my heat eval. He wasn't very happy for the rating.

Personally what I'm seeing here is that it never seems to be his fault, its always someone elses. If something goes wrong that you're involved in, you're at least partially at fault, and its your job to correct the problems.

I was one of his first few trades on Heat back in July. I traded him a motherboard that supposedly worked for its last owner (However, it never worked for me) for an Athlon XP system. Anyway, I get the thing in, and it smells of smoke. The case was missing a drive bay cover, some screws, and it was pretty heavily scuffed up and dented. It DID work, but I was going to give it to a friend as a secondary computer and I wasn't going to give someone a computer in that condition.

I gave him positive feedback because that motherboard was as-is and I'd have felt bad if he would have gotten something nonworking and I got a working PC, even though it was pretty rough looking. There are probably more than a few dissatisfied with him

......I have dealt with LF in the past and everything went perfect. I dunno if he really is a scammer. But I would have to say hes just really really in over his head.

Did you read this entire thread? Even after all the inconsistancies that at least some are turning out to be full fledged lies? And just what is it about trading here that is "over his head"? He seems just fine with the "taking the money or goods" part, but when it comes to the "Ship out goods or refund" part he's suddenly "over his head?

...For all we know he didn't ship anything and just said he did to keep people out of his hair.

......and this makes things.......OK?

I have had people tell me they shipped one day, then have the package come a week or two later with postage dated much later than expected.....

If the postage is dated later then the day they said they shipped then they lied to you, just like LF has lied.

just to add sorme info. He told me that the item/shipping was cheap because he has free internationl shipping at his JOB. So my question is what is his problem with his post office.....that doesn't add up.........

LF explainations have more holes then my spegetti strainer:rolleyes:

bump for help, first time escalating claim to paypal to investigate

He'll have 15 days to respond. If he doesn't, then you win. As to whether there's any funds left for you, it's anyone's guess at this point

I purchased a E6550 from him that he said will be shipped tomorrow since the post was closed today. I dont think the post was closed today.... but whatever.. that could have been overlooked by us both.

If he does not have me tracking tomorrow I will post again. Did anyone else purchase this same chip from him?

I'm confused here.,..
Why did you leave him positive heat for a Q6600 if you bought an E6550?

And why did you post heat yesterday , about the same time you posted this thread, if you didn't even get the CPU yet?

Yes if thats the case, I will have to contact my bank? (used bank transfer)

You would do well to contact them now and see if they can even do anything.
2 issues you'll run into:

1. As far as the bank is concerned, paypal is the one making the withdraw, not the recipient of the funds. Since you're not disputing whether paypal got the $$$ or not, they may be unwilling to help you (I've even heard of this behavior from CC companies, but not as often)

2. Bank transfers as a rule don't have protection for purchase problems. They do have some protections against fraudulent transfers, like if someone steals your debit card, but these are very weak and require almost immediate reporting to your bank.

Look at the email address on the Prentice heatware account. Notice anything similar to LogitechFreak's current/previous accounts?

Thanks for the info.. I think I will contact my bank tomorrow when everything is more concrete... but I am out $410 in this... sigh

FYI his paypal account is locked he wont respond hes already gettin investigated, you need to escalate... I advise everyone to do the same, he broke his word and his last straw with me this morning at 10am its time to take action everyone.

Paranoid much? There are 111 users here at [H] with 420 in their usernames. And plenty more with 420 in their e-mail addresses.

I don't think paranoia has anything to do with it...

besides, 420 fits him with his pot smoking habit.. ..:)

He has failed to meet the 10 AM time he himself set. If you have not escalated your claims, I suggest you do so at this time. Then, if he ships, you get your stuff and the dispute goes away for him. No one gets hurt by filing/escalating your claims. Do not wait any longer, do not give him more time. The longer you wait, the less likely you are to ever see your cash again, plain and simple.

Yeah my dispute was already escalated to paypal claim and I suggest everyone else do the same.

Look at Prentice's date that he joined: Nov. 11th
Look at the few post's he has done: All in the For Sale/Trade Forum
Look at how old Prentice's heatware is: Nov. 11th
Look at the only other Heatware member listed under Prentice's Account: It's LogitechFreak

Too many coincidences. They could just be coincidences, but they still need to be investigated.

The scammer is jumping ID's, Email's, etc. all the time, and also using multiple accounts to give himself positive ratings.
This is no 19 year old living with his parents, that is a lie too. Just re-read his posts.
They sound like someone grasping for straws. He mentions using a "Maiden name"? WTF? Is this a woman or a man?

Mods, you need to investigate each and every account that has any connection with this guy, including everyone here that is or isn't complaining. A simple WHOIS will determine if they are legit or not.

Man, I'm starting to feel bad about this. After reading this whole thread and seeing how many people are having problems with this guy I guess I should have done more. I thought my negative eval would be enough to warn people away from from. But in hindsight I should have at least contacted a moderator when my deal with him went bad. My apologies to all.

I just escalated my claim with PayPal...I figure he either ships or I hopefully get my money back...being a single 21 year old father of a 2 1/2 year old I can't afford to get scammed...

Will someone pm me on how to escalate my claim and/or what to say, i'm a newb as I never had to do this before.
heh
If not, i'll leave what I did already (a claim, didn't escalate it) for now and see what happens. I sent two payments to him, also they was paypal balance.

I would prefer get my money back, then wait on the fucktard to "ship" whatever he had promised me.
Specially now that he's in the shitter, whats the chances of a working item?

I did file a paypal dispute few minutes ago and I did esculated right away. It was for my NIB Zalman 9500 HS/FAN. I have 2 kids myself and I also cannot afford being scammed, it was for my old athlon rig.....damn it, my wife won't be happy about it. :(

To anybody looking to open a claim, it is in the Paypal resolution center.

LogitechFreak bought a hard drive from me and I noticed at the time that his paypal was a unverified account, so I am not sure how many of you will be getting your money back.

You can also contact your local police and file a fraud report. I do feel sorry for anyone who was scammed by him and I do hope that this somehow gets resolved.

Paranoid much? There are 111 users here at [H] with 420 in their usernames. And plenty more with 420 in their e-mail addresses.

Come on VA, this isn't rocket science. I guess I will explain again.

What was his account name that he was banned under previously?

Darkside50420

What was his AIM for his previously banned account?

Darkside50420

What was his previous heatware account?

darkninja420 & Darkside50420

What was his previous MSN account?

bowlofweed420@hotmail.com

Combine all of that with the fact that Prentince registered here on Nov 11 and posted a positive heatware eval for Logitech the same day. That doesn't seem suspect?

Then combine that with Prentince used the prentice420@sbcglobal.net email address.

A simple check of your logs can confirm/deny this.

This forum is running vbulletin. If he logs in from the same location with a different username, he'll trip the AE detector. The mod will know right away if it's the same guy. Now while this has it limitations, it's fairly reliable in catching multiple users from the same location.

I never siad that it makes things ok. Just stating points.

What imeant by hes in over his head was he reached for the sky and fell in a pit.

People can get away with a scam or two, but there are how many cases against him right now? He is basically screwed, refunds or not :)

If you're not involved / were involved / involved in some way, just keep your points to yourself for now. There'll be plenty of time afterward to discuss why this happened. There's already a lot of clutter in this thread.

As of right now, if no one has gotten in contact with him, do the Paypal thing and hope. I got my refund, so perhaps he's not a straight scammer. It's confusing because both FTL and I apparently got our money back; it now depends on whether or not you trust this guy to ship your stuff or you just want to get your money and move on.

Good luck, still following.

ihave dealt with him in the past and also have been off and on lately trying to work a deal or two so i'd like to stay :).

By the way, he told me hes getting death threats from people who want their, is that really needed?

Death threats are certainly unnecessary.

evanscnce, how are you in contact with Logitechfreak? Please tell him he needs to update those who are still in pending transactions with him, Paypal locking him out notwithstanding.

death threats? never did such stuff.. I am being reasonable in this imo

maybe can someone try calling him again? I am at office right now so I cant

By the way, he told me hes getting death threats from people who want their, is that really needed?

Because everything else he has told us has been true?:rolleyes:

A deadline he himself set has come and gone. Yet he continues to string everyone along.

Sooner or later you are going to get to the end of the string and your items or money won't be there.

STOP LETTING HIM PLAY YOU!

He has been BANNED before for his trading practices, and he is back doing it again.

I'm going to say this one last time and honestly if you don't heed this I will have very little sympathy when you come back bitching that you didn't get your money/items.

1.) File the claim with his local Police department, make sure you use the contact information for the police department in the thread on Anand.

2.) Create the claim on PayPal and escalate it ASAP.

At this point, I seriously doubt calling him will accomplish much. He has already agreed to a set ultimatum.

If you are totally desperate to "give this guy a chance" and not be a huge cynic , give him until the end of the day to get around to providing clear-cut proof of actual shipment. He did say 10AM, which is a bad sign, but again, one last day.

Otherwise, if you have not already started taking serious action through Paypal, a lawyer or whatever, it would be prudent to begin that immediately if he should say, not show up by 6PM.

Again, speaking from personal experience and FTL may attest to this, I was refunded voluntarily and I'm guessing FTL got either a refund or a Paypal claim. He hasn't withdrawn and run, so to speak, so if you absolutely want to give him a chance... Otherwise, there's not much more you can do but wait and hope.

I have been lurking around this thread for a while now, and now that Prentice is being implicated I thought maybe I should share some things for better or worse.

Here is a few back and forth with both Prentice and Logitechfreak about my items up for sale.

Guess I shoulda went the risky route lol... kinda makes you giggle at me inside doesnt it? I ate my words on this one!

Whats the best deal for that C2D you can do for me? I have some cash coming in for my processor I have for sale with whats left in my paypal.

At first I felt bad for him, but then I thought this was way too damn coincidental, and like CaptNumbNutz did I looked through his recent posts etc. and thought this was way too weird.

Just thought I would throw my 2 cents in, if you want I can also post screen shots of the messages back and forth. These correspondences started a couple of days ago(11/11/07) so I guess he was up to old ways.

Hope this helps
