Calling all e4300 owners.

If it's 46C idle it must be either a damn hot room or a horribly installed HSF. Either that or he's using Core Temp 0.95 of TAT and he actually has a tJunction of 85C. Tough to say.
 
and what does that have to do with the temps of the cpu?... im having no problems with the psu so far.


Oh yea haven't bought a heatsink yet but do you think if I just get arctic silver 5 thermal paste will help ?

It has nothing to do with temps of the CPU but he's totally right -- that PSU is trash. (RAIDMAX is listed in the "PSUs to avoid" thread in the power supply forum for a reason -- namely, failure well below specified wattage and poor power regulation)

$50 gets you an Xcilo Goodpower that'll at least actually put out 500 watts within spec, and $114 (after rebate) gets you a 700watt OCZ GameXStream at Newegg right now. Depending on budget, either are good choices, and more headroom is always a good thing.

I really would get rid of the Raidmax quick, though.

He said earlier in the thread that the ambient was 80F, which would probably mean he'd be like in the 30C idle temps in a 70F ambient.

The GameXstream line really isn't that great...once they start to approach their rated wattage they have HORRIBLE ripple and they should be avoided if there's a chance you're going to take the PSU close to it's rated wattage. The Corsair HX620 would be a better choice then the 600W GameXstream, and the Seasonic PSU's that Corsair uses come in a 700W variety straight from Seasonic for an equivalent to the 700W GameXstream if you're going to push your system to the max.
 
46 celcius at idle*antec silver* and I said that the third time I applied thermal paste*cooler master* it was at 55 idle so a big improvement anyways true on that I should get a new power supply because if using a bad power supply then it might burn out my parts*don't want that to happen as it will waste my time* also the voltage for my cpu is 1.3250. On the power supply... is this great? and I will also have another case for a future build :D

edit- huh this is rated is the #1 power supply at TigerDirect*I know I can get psu at newegg but...* here it is anyways

well anyways im happy with the temps for now.... also I decided that im still going to keep my power supply since its still great... heh also this one site listed dell 4600 as the top 10 worse pc's but mine is still working great*usin as server* so... it just depends on the people if they got a good one or bad one so im thinking i got a good raidmax psu :) anyways I want to oc my cpu to 2ghz for now so what will I need to raise the frequency of it for? right now its 1800.07mhz and(200.01 x 9.0) Thanks.
 
Change fsb from 200 to 223.

ok thanks. Oh yea I ran orthos stress test*pm for result* and after 2 hours its still doing great but canceled it since wanted to play games :D anyways I did a test.... 2 games up battlefield 2 and a base demo from d3company... and temps only went up to 55degrees celcius :D
anyways are there any good programs out there to oc the cpu since I don't see any settings in the bios to do so? Thanks!
 
Maybe some e4300s just aren't as good as others. My e4300 was running 50-52 idle and 78+ at 100% load with stock hsf at 3.1 ghz. Replaced that with the Tuniq Tower 120 and my idle temps are 43 and 100% load on both cores with TAT is 68-70. Better, but not as good as I had hoped for. This is using Arctic Silver Ceramique paste too :(

Wow you haven't been reading my posts haven't you? tjunction is 100C....

0.94 and 0.95 are both different on E4300's. I have used them both and the 0.94 will always report the Tjunction @ 85 and 0.95 will always report the Tjunction @ 100.

I have 0.95 on my E4300 @ 3ghz right now and I am getting an idle temp of 44C w/ 100C Tjunction.

If I load up 0.94 I get an idle temp of 29C and a Tjunction of 85C.

If your cpu works fine at stock speed, then it's not defective. Why would you consider returning it? Your temps sound fine - if it's 55C, it's fine.

Leave it alone now.

ok won't rma it then and to your first question sheesh... did you finished reading my other post? I said I wanted to know a good program to oc the cpu since I can't find the setting to oc the cpu in the bios :rolleyes:
 
Does it mention anything on the motherboard's manual?

You could try Nvidia Ntune... it has a feature to adjust bus speeds, memory timings and voltages "to achieve best performance".

I think you just need to search for the option to change the FSB and you'll be reaching 3Ghz on the E4300 easily.




While on the topic here's my e4300 overclock.
FSB 333
Multiplier x9
1.3375 Vcore
DDR2-833 5-5-5-15
vdimm 1.90

I ran Orthos for 2 hours at 1.35 vcore, but I left it for only 5 minutes to check the temperatures at 1.3375 vcore because I wanted to play some games and I hate running orthos and not watching the temperatures. (I don't think I'm ever going to run orthos overnight unless I prop my eyelids with toothpicks....)

Anyway so far orthos has been stable.

The ambient temperature here is 25.
I use coretemp 0.95 (my Tj is 100 because coretemp 0.94 gives me idle temperatures 6 degrees lower than ambient).

Idle temp is 35.
Orthos small FFT's is on average 60. Sometimes going up to 62 and other times down to 57.

The cooler's a zalman 9500.

What do you think, especially about my temperatures?

I don't even have the board and it was a piece of cake to find where you need to be...check this out. Shouldn't be too confusing, the BIOS options are pretty straight forward IMO.

mine is just an intel d975xbx not an xbx2. :( but I heard you can flash the bios to one though.
