Cable management

Is my cable management good or bad? Is there anything I should change?

Only thing I would do would be to get an extension cable set for your PCIe power cables to get rid of that loop. Otherwise, looks like a damn nice job.

Thanks. The cable that has the loop came with the PSU. I have another cable that I could use to connect the two connectors separately, but that would be more cables. Where would I use an extension cable?

Some PSUs have that loop for 8+6 cards, some have separate 8+6 cables. Personally, I think have the separate 8+6 cables looks a bit cleaner, because you don't have the loop.

The extension I mentioned would be two short PCIe power cables, one 8 pin, one 6pin, about 12" long or so. You'd plug those into the video card, and put the other end (and that loop) back behind the MB tray, out of sight. Something like this: http://www.performance-pcs.com/cablemod-modflex-6-pin-pci-e-extension-45cm-black.html

Again, it's personal preference and does nothing for performance or anything. That's just how you could clean up that loop in the cables.

I barely fit the cables in the back compartment. Why would 2 separate cables look cleaner? I think that the least amount of cables looks the best.

Which looks cleaner, the extra loop from your existing cable, or something like this:

I am not going to sleeve the cables.

That's not a custom sleeving job. That's just a couple cable extensions like the one I linked previously. That pic has the "combs" to keep them lined up, but they're not required by any means.

Again, I was trying to explain why you would use an extension to make things neater. There's no actual NEED for any of that, your current setup is perfectly fine the way it is.

Yar, I grabbed some extensions from Bitfenix (Alchemy iirc). Still that's fine looking cabling and much cleaner than what my PC is currently sporting.

There is one thing that kind of worried about. When I put in one of the standoffs the hole seemed kind of weird. I didn't start tinkering with it because I didn't want to damage it like I did before, but it almost looked like the standoff didn't go in all the way from the back, but it didn't really get tight like the other ones with the screwdriver. I still couldn't turn it with my finger, but I am a little worried about it.

if you couldn't turn it any more then its tight enough that its not going anywhere now that its assembled. cabling looks fine. if youre not using the hdd bracket across the back of the mobo tray, id remove it. let the back of the socket breath a little better.

the stand offs are fine man! for someone that has built systems before you sure are really unsure of yourself and are asking a lot of reeaaally basic questions. youre doing fine, stop worrying so much. you fucked up the stand off, lesson learned and everything else is going good. now get windows loaded, install the newest drivers, not the ones on the disks, update windows and get gaming!

I don't know if I messed up the standoff. Here is a picture

Standoff I am worried about:

Good standoff for comparison:

On the lower picture you can see the one I am worried about on the left. It dosen't come though all the way like the other one.

Will it be ok? Even if it is loose, I will just leave it. I just hope the hole isn't damaged.

Looks fine to me. Even when you take the trouble to cable manage everything under the motherboard, you still get an area that looks messy. It's just out of sight, out of mind.

Looks fine - You'd know if it was stripped because the screw will just keep turning and turning. In fact, the screw would probably even just fall out.

It did keep turning. I couldn't get it to reach a point where it was totally in like the other ones, but I am not totally sure. I couldn't turn it with my fingers, but I am really worried that the hole might be stripped.

You're too worried over nothing. Even if it is stripped, who cares? It won't fall out at this point and it's making contact with the chassis. Move on.

If you cared you wouldn't have installed the remainder of the system and then asked us if it's ok. You know if it's stripped or not. If it is, and it bothers you, remove the components and tap the hole. There isn't much, beyond what we have already told you, that we can do.

I just want to know if it is messed up or not. I want to know if it is stripped or if the standoff hole is just deeper than the standoff.

If it's stripped the screw will continue to spin when using your screwdriver. It may not with finger strength. If it spins, it's stripped. If it doesn't spin, it's fine.

It depends what you mean by spin. It didn't get as tight as the other ones. It got considerably tight, but I didn't keep turning it because I was worried that I would screw it up. I took it out and then I put it back in and I only tightened it to about how tight it was before because I didn't want to strip it. I am now worried that it is stripped. I was able to take it out though,

I guess you've never actually stripped a thread huh.

If it was stripped, you'd know - the screw will go into the hole, engage a little and then you're twisting the driver with no real action. Or in other words, if it's stripped you will turn the crew and it won't tighten down at all.

So likely at the moment it's ok. Good news!

But if you're worried, don't force the issue. I'd leave it be and not worry about it ever again. After all, it's doing it job perfectly.

I have. That is why I am so worried. https://hardforum.com/threads/case-standoff-holes-stripped.1918626/

If it was stripped, would I be able to take out the standoff and put it back in? That is what I did. I was afraid to tighten it down more because when I stripped holes previously, I would tighten it and then it would get loose again. I was putting in standoffs and I put a few in and tightened them a little bit and then I went back to tighten them and the rest got tight, but this one didn't get to a point where I felt it was in all the way so I took it out and put it back in, but I didn't keep tightening it. I just tightened it to how it was before, but I felt I could have continued tightening it because it didn't reach the tightness of the other standoffs.

its fine! your system is built fine. now youre coming across as a troll, knock it off! and for the love of the [H]Gods DO NOT try and put Linux on this, you clearly do not have enough experience. load windows, load newest drivers, load some games and start enjoying you system, FFS!

I know, but I put it in as far as the other ones but I didn't feel it getting tight so I was really worried about stripping it and I didn't turn it any more. I took it out and put it back in to see if that would help, but it didn't.
