Wow, its been 7 years since I first started getting into this hobby. 7 years i've learned so much and gotten so much enterainment from so many games. Thanks in part due to AGP's role in powering my 3DFX Voodoo 3 3000 *June 2000*, to the asinine first $400 spent on the first gen Geforce 3 Vision tek in *May 2001*, my *GF4 4200i* in a pinch for BF1942 *Sept 2002*, then my first ATI card, a 9800 Pro *July 2003* and lastly giving its last hurrah, a 6800GT *August 2004*

Well, its finally time to say goodbye to the interface thats worked so well for these years, but now its time to upgrade my system completely.

I've had a VERY Long month, combined with my mom in surgery, car wreck, anxiety attacks,ect..ect... I need to treat myself cause you know what, life's short and I don't give a damn.

Wipped out the credit card and I've got some beautiul toys coming to my doorstep to cheer me up

Ohhhhh, I have a feeling i'll have a GOOD weekend this time around :D
 
I don't remember Voodoo 2 being AGP? Voodoo 3 was 3dfx's first AGP card wasn't it?

Woops you are correct, I had to think waaaaaaay back, it was PCI to allow for their *SLI* mode back in the day. My Voodoo 3 3000 was AGP *whata POS that was*
 
it so wasn't a POS, I remember when I first got my Voodoo3 3000, i used nothing but crap before then and then I popped in Quake 2 and played it in 3dFxGlide for the first time, I was truly BLOWN AWAY!

You guys remember the first time you saw a game using GLIDE? WOW

It was a POS compared to my Monster II Voodoo 2 Card. I dunno why the hell I spent the money on it. *Oh yea, trying to get Diablo 2 to run faster* :mad:

First game I saw GLIDE In action was Jedi Knight II, Dark Forces and Unreal. I was fucking blown away as soon as I walked outa the ship or when I got into the first light saber fight...*amazing it looks like ass now*
 
Can someone post pics of Unreal 1 using glide on full setting and d3d on full setting I've been playing Unreal 1 because thats one of the only games my current computer will run I just got to ISVKran deck 4. I am playing on d3d on full settings as far as they will go including advanced options.

If there is one thing that this hobby has done for me, its kept me out of trouble.

Btw I too went from Intel/AGP to A64/Sli. Even tho Intel will be my first love,
I....like you will be, was not dissappointed ;)
 
I've gotta say, when I got a Voodoo3 2000 as an "upgrade" to my 12MB Voodoo2's in SLI I too was less than impressed. I saved that reaction for my Voodoo5 5500 :D Have fun on the PCIe side of the fence, I too am concidering making the jump soon but will probably have to wait unitl Christmas time and my bonus!
 
Very nice machine. Sorry to hear about the misfortune as of late.

I'm still using AGP, but its been about 18 months since my last upgrade. My next card will be pci-e, no question. You just can't argue with the data.

This P4 setup is over 2 years old now, it was just overdue. If nothing else, gaining the flexibility to add new gen cards instead of being stuck with AGP.

dude, wasn't it well known back then that even the Voodoo3 3500 couldn't keep up with SLI Voodoo2's?
 
I wish I could say Bye, bye to AGP. I've been back and forth 3 times :(. Now if only Dell would ship my 7800GT, I might finally stick with PCIe for good :D.
 
I sold my 9800XT and bought a Voodoo 5 5500 PCI, which is in my A64 rig (2.4Ghz 1MB Cache). Since I don't play games really any more (maybe I need to find a good one).

Anyways, continue on.
