Buying Games at B&M

So after completing my most recent build (in a loooong time), I'm discovering that there aren't many places (at least that I can find) that still sell games.

I walked into an EBGames yesterday and all they have is this tiny little rack in the back of the store with a piss poor selection. What stores (B&M, not online) still sell PC games, and have a decent selection?

Also, if I decide to go the Steam route, how long does it take to download the games? I'm a big fan of not having to wait hours upon hours for gigs of data to download...

The Best Buy stores around me have a pretty decent selection of PC games.

As for downloading Steam games, it really depends on the game. Downloading HL2 will take hours. Downloading Bejeweled will be a considerably shorter wait.

Yeah, I went to Gamestop to pick something up a while back and they had one crappy bargain rack looking thing in the back with next to nothing on it. I've had good luck finding about anything at Best Buy as well when I can't get an electronic version via Steam or whatever.

I've found that Target and WalMart seem to have a fairly large PC games section.

EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot about Fry's, too. They definitely have a huge selection of PC games.

Best Buy and Circuit City (plus other retailers not around the MIdwest area, Fry's and such) plus "general" 'tailers (Walmart, Target, etc) usually have giant stocks of recent games, I've never had a problem finding 'em in store. It's just rarer, out-of-print, more niche stuff that's hard to find, but still, I've seen some oooold console games around Best Buy...must be leftover stock.

sweet, thanks guys.

no Frys for me though, im in NY :p gonna go check out the bb, cc, target and walmart when i get outta work :D

there is always a 10% coupon for BB floating around, not much but gives you at least 3-5$ off any new game..

I usually get all my games at Circuit City, because they frequently have great sales on new release and older games.

Oblivion for $37.99, Knights of the Nine for $7.99, Shivering Isles for $17.99, Stalker for $30, C&C 3 for $40, those are just some of the sales I've seen in the last two months. Pretty much every new PC game and expansion pack they take $12 off the MSRP.

Best Buy is nice too but they don't run near as many sales as Circuit City does.

EB / Gamestop is the worst place possible to get PC games.
