Greetings all those hard.

I'm ready to buy a digital camera finally...!

I've got a MAX of $500 for this purchase.

I'm interested in the Canon PowerShot SD500 and then S400... both of those seem interesting. I like the image quality that they produce and the fact they can also take video if I wanted to do that.

Anyone have opinon on those cameras? Or a suggestion!

Thanks everyone!

bump and thanks for moving my post, I for some reason didn't think of finding a thread about photography in the hobbies ;)

What size are you looking for? And what kind of features? The Canon S2 IS is coming out in a month or so, it's a 12x optical zoom and has a nice movie mode also. Only problem is it's a lot bigger than the SD series

Well I'd say I'm looking for something small... or else I would just bust out more cash and buy a Rebel or something.

I just started looking into the Casio EX-Z750 and am really impressed. let me know what you think of it.

As far as features. Well I take pictures of pretty much anything, but I'd like it to perform well with candid as well as posed pictures of people. I'd like it to be quick (ie, good with cadid) and battery life is a big plus as well as movie taking...

Any other questions?

Thanks for the input!

Just picked up the Casio EX-Z750 for $399 Today. Cancelled the order for the Canon SD500 I made on Saturday. Check out dpreview.com forums to help you make your secision. The fight seems to be between the Casio and Canon.

Yeah I'm buying my EX-Z750 right now... I'll post all kinds of stuff about it once it arrives!

Thanks!

I just got the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20S for $529 shipped from Vanns.com...it's got 5MP and 12x optical zoom and an optical image stablizer and AF Assist and can take videos w/ audio and is very fecking awesome...great lens and great quality pictures...for a non-SLR, I think it's considered one of the best...I dunno...just make sure you get a bigger SD card tho...16MB's isn't a lot...
