Butcher's Creek

Was expecting Dusk graphics but this one has more textures you a Claw hammer which is actually more Dangerous than a Ball peen. Ball Peen hammers get all the noise but a Claw Hammer is more dangerous since the claws can hit in the face you while hammering the reason why they are bent for safety.

I really enjoyed those two games that inspired it, but it looks pretty damn low-fi in those posted screenshots. Not just grainy cam-style, but really dated. Both Condemned and Manhunt looked pretty damned good for when they came out. I guess I'll hope those are just placeholder shots.

If this guy's previous work is any indication, this will be a Day One Purchase™. Anyone who skipped DUSK, Ion Fury, etc. because of the graphics really missed out on some of the best retro-inspired shooters of recent times.

Absolutely loved the vibe/atmosphere/creepiness of Manhunt and Condemned, so I'm beyond excited to see him take a title in this direction!

This came out a couple of days ago. At $8.49 (currently 15% off, release sale), it was a no-brainer.

Since I don't expect it to be a tremendously long game at that price, I've been taking my time. So, I've only spent a couple of hours with it so far but can confirm that the vibe is on point. No other game has gone out of its way to reach for the atmosphere of Manhunt and Condemned like this.

Perfect? Of course not. Melee combat is basic, but weapons are laying around everywhere as objects that are natural to the environment, and they're satisfying to use. Pipes, boards, utility knives, pliers, shovels, hatchets, hammers, axes, sledgehammers...if it was in Condemned or can be found on a construction site, it's probably there. :) David Szymanski is a sick and twisted mofo, and we love him for it.

Instead of a technically advanced melee combat system, we have environmental kills. Bottomless pits, spinning sawblades, radioactive sludge, etc. which are all pretty sweet and help keep your currently-equipped weapon from deteriorating so you can save it for other foes.

I haven't watched this yet due to possible spoilers, but... Hyper Tension Films covered it, and he's probably my favorite small videogame channel right now. Awesome production and his tastes in gaming tend to line up with my own.

I tried the Demo it's not bad but can't get over the film grain look of the textures otherwise it's good.
