Busy weekend for reviews...

how does it get your recommendation, when it shut down repeatedly?

Because it didn't do it unless I had more than 574W on the combined 12V rails. There are power supplies in the same price range that can't even do 574W on the 12V rails, never mind more.

It didn't get whacked a point for not being able to sustain > 574W in the hot box. It got whacked for poor documentation of the capabilities of the rails. I assumed I could put more than 574W on the 12V rails because of page 17 of the manual. But the manual also says that the PSU could only sustain these loads for 12 seconds. They never say what kind of continuous load I could put on the rails. That makes the folks at Thermaltake a bunch of morons, but it doesn't make the Toughpower 750W a bad power supply.

For performance, I would certainly suggest something like the Silverstone Zeus 750W over the Thermaltake. But for a modular PSU, I don't think they get much better than the Toughpower. I'd even take the Toughpower over an Enermax Galaxy seeing how the Galaxy crossloads and has horrible ripple.
