No it doesn't. Again for this case, it doesn't make sense to build a PC when you can buy a similar performing and slightly lower quality for half the price for a usage scenario that isn't particularly demanding.

Well from reading more and researching I think the best solution for them would be a redundant hard drive setup. That way if one hard drive takes a crap or something gets erased by mistake their is still another copy.

Get a pre-built PC from walmart or dell. Run it ragged and use the hell out of it. You can cheaply upgrade JUST the hard drive later if you need it (or just add it in).

Hard drive failures are really uncommon for me, though I've used Western Digital and Seagate Barracuda drives. One 12 GB Seagate Barracuda that came in a prebuilt 1996 Compaq computer was used to hell and back again, and I used it for over 10 years before it finally crapped out on me, and even then the BIOS gave me ample warning weeks before it crapped out.

If redundancy is really that much of an issue, get yourself a cheapo external USB hard drive with 'autobackup' and that way even a virus infection won't screw up your plans.

Also, I'd recommend WinXP SP3 (if you can get it from an OEM) with nLite. Much less of a resource hog than Win7. Firefox or Chrome for the web browser. Other stuff as needed.
