Anyone wanna throw a few CPUs on this? We are around 400k points behind first in formula-BOINC.

ChristianVirtual RFGuy_KCCO and pututu I know you guys have accounts. Give it some love towards the end of the year. Not sure if you're back from your vacation pututu.

Yes you can. I'm on my phone typing so bare with me.

Then open your BOINC software manager on your PC. Add new project and look for BURP. Login with your email and password you signed up with.

So far only my Linux rigs are getting work. Not sure why my two quad core Windows boxes aren't.

I had some bad luck when tried last time with rejected WUs; but happy to try again when home and access to my clients

20 days on a Ryzen with 8c/16th ? Linux ... or are they stucking at begin of the WU ? I had some in August ... but these days not very promising.

HTOP shows all 16threads fully on blender ; no swapping

apt-get install libglu1-mesa to get the libGLU lib in addition ...

and eventually the WU finished ok'ish; the progress indicator is just crap. #MEGACRAP

The tasks show as stuck until they are complete. My Windows Ryzen is taking about 30 mins per task. If the task runs longer than the average then boinc goes into panic mode and estimates weeks until completion but still finish in less than an hour.

My Linux 32 thread rigs have an appalling validation rate so I'm only running the Ryzen.

yeah; actually I got a first WU back, now pending in validation after 1400 sec ; on AMD Ryzen 7 1700X Eight-Core Processor

have it now on two Ryzen systems running but don't think we can turn the position. But worth trying. (Feel sorry for all the terminated WCG WUs )

Can I do anything? =)

Araxie, If you haven't already you may want to do this - https://hardforum.com/threads/how-to-setup-up-boincstats-bam.1930993/
It will save you a lot of time and headache if you are going to support a lot of BOINC projects.

and BURP again comes with inconclusive results; did I mentioned I kind of don't like it ... wired name ... strange results ... still give it a bit but hope some points comping over. Else it get a ban-hammer.

BURP is a bit of a strange one although the name does have a Christmas feel to it.

The inconclusive results fairly quickly turn into either valid or invalid results. I read on the project forum that even invalid results are eventually credited.

I go to bed; when I wake up and have no points I will scream ...

Doesn't this project have GPU WUs? I set it up that way and got CPU WUs. Backed out when it took over and stopped my other projects. Don't think I'll be running this. Excuse me, just burped.

No it does not. CPU only. It will appear to take over your boxen for days at a time, but the completion estimation is wrong. These WU's seem like they will run for days and sometimes even weeks or a month, but they'll complete in less than an hour. It is multithreaded so a single WU will utilize 100% of your CPU's cores, but you can limit that to whatever number you see fit. I can set you up with a config to use if that's what you would rather do. Just tell me how many cores you want it to use and I'll create one for you to copy & paste.

ChristianVirtual a lot of my WU's get marked as invalid/error as well. Luckily they only run for about 20 minutes before being completed so I can generally get a bunch of them validated that I still get decent PPD.

Well it has had GPU projects before in the past, but the current work doesn't contain any. They're CPU only for now. This is one of those projects that doesn't always have work readily available.

We are 385,351 points behind at the time of this post.

That means we have to do at least 78k more points than they are currently doing to catch them. They've been averaging around 20k PPD. So ~98k PPD is what we need to achieve in the next 5 days to over take them.

So far I collected zero points, it’s not helping. Sorry, need to drop out. I posted in the forum in an existing thread but I think that project comes on my ignore list for a while

Seems we gained a little on them since the last post.

380,143 is the current spread.

I tried to post in FB this morning to remove burp

A) was inactive quite a while
B) unreliable results

Good that I didn’t had my forum password at hand (plus seems mainly H is posting anyway)

I was planning on switching all of my systems over to BURP tomorrow (errr, today) to help out; but am guessing it's pointless?

I try once more on a EC2 instance

GenuineIntel Intel(R) Xeon(R) Platinum 8124M CPU @ 3.00GHz [Family 6 Model 85 Stepping 3]; running under Amazon Linux image (since it has yum I think RH/Fedora/Centos based)

Maybe it's an AMD thing ...

getting only 64cores ... 8 left ;-)

first WU done; hell, is that beast fast

Completed, validation inconclusive 347.08 19,075.97 pending Blender (CPU) v5.12 (mt)
but of course: inconclusive

I've previously had very few validated tasks on Linux rigs with the exception of my 4p which is still poor in comparison to my Ryzen/Windows computer.

fastgeek it's definitely worth a go on your Windows machines. If successful, your firepower will almost certainly make up the daily gain we need to retake 1st place.

Given the shortage of work, you may have to run a script to prompt regular project updates. The max tasks you can cache per host is 4.

and Skillz get the points: 816.97 ....

I HATE BURP ... did I mentioned it today the one or other time .... ? this project is not good for my health and I really need to drop out. Sorry, high blood pressure ...

Go for it fastgeek. I'm not gonna be able to get us to where we need to take back 1st by myself. I think yesterday I did close to 50k points, but we needed to do 77k points more than the next team and since they're averaging around 20k ppd it's not enough.

Although we are the top producing team for the project at the moment. I might leave it on this project for a few weeks if it stays within' Formula-BOINC so we can get a good lead while they have work right now.

Few points dripping in

Although not sure if I can bring enough firepower to overcome a 325K point deficit. That said, my Windows boxes are getting WUs (once some WCG house keeping is done) and are crunching away.

Sure you can. You've got a lot more systems than I do. I'm generating 50k+ per day now with just three 4P boxes.
