1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc

I will be using the PC for games like Dragon Nest, Starcraft 2, and Battlefield 3. I will also be using Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and Maya on this computer and of course, I will be browsing the web and doing school stuff on it.

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?

My budget is $1000-$1500. Shipping and tax included.

3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.

I live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.

My monitor is a 23-inch LED-backlit full HD monitor with 16:9 viewing ratio and 1920 x 1080 resolution.

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? etc.

I'm actually not computer literate...so I don't know what I need. :(

I have Windows 7 64 bit and 32 bit.

I suck at the shopping cart recommends, but I got my current monitor as help for programming. I use a 40" 1080p vizio tv as a monitor. 80% so I could fit more code + snippits/documentation etc... onto my screen without wearing my hated glasses all the time.



Sitting across the room in a recliner for gaming doesn't suck too hard either. :D
 
I have someone who knows how to build computers helping me out when I order, he just doesn't have the time to help me research parts ><.
 
Also, let me correct myself. I'm computer literate. I'm just not update to date on parts and what's good out there. I actually didn't find out til recently that such a thing as SSD existed. :O

Depending on how serious you are with Maya, it will make use of the 2600k hyper threading, so if you plan to do a lot of rendering with Maya it might benefit you to spend the extra money on a 2600k.
 
Yeah, I was looking into that. I'm pretty serious about doing something related to 3D game programming or computer animation so I might just go with the 2600k
