Building new pc input wanted

Since the ps3 came out i left the pc gaming world. Now that my pc is about 5 years old im going to build a new one, so i joined the forum to investigate what the best/better options available to me.

This is what i have conjured so far:

Intel i7 930
Cooler Master Haf x
2 Msi gtx 460 1gb overclocked sli
Corsair DDR3 8GB PC-10600/1333 (2x XMS3 4GB) CMX8GX3M2A1333C9 Ram
Western Digital RE3 1TB WD1002FBYS
Asus P6X58D Premium
LG BH10LS30 Blu-ray/DVD burner
Corsair HX-850 Power Supply
Samsung PX2370
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium FATAL1TY Pro PCIe
Creative Gigaworks T3 2.1 System
CoolerMaster MegaFlow 200 Red and Noiseblocker MultiFrame M12-P 120 for the case

Which comes all up to 3400.00 Aussie dollars.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated
 
First and foremost: Try to see whether or not the features set of that Asus motherboard justify the higher costs over these motherboards:
$210 - Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58 ATX Motherboard
$240 - Asus P6X58D-E Intel X58 ATX Motherboard

Second, PSU wise, see if this PSU is cheaper and available in your country:
$150 - XFX XPS-850W-BES 850W Modular PSU

If it is, get it over the Corsair.

Third, it doesn't look like you're operating a server so no point in getting the RE drive. See if these drives are available in your country:
$75 - Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
$90 - Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
$95 - Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s Hard Drive
 
Danny Bui knows his stuff, but I have a couple things to add:

1) If you can buy the Samsung F3, I recommend getting them today (if you order from newegg US) since they ar $15 off.

2) You are going 460GTX in SLI but only have a 1900x1080 23" monitor? Seems a bit overkill. I would say go bigger (or higher res) monitor, nvsurround, or go with 1 card.

3) i personally avoid Creative like the plague. Look at the Asus Xonar DS (not DX).

Yes i will not be operating a server so i guess that Western Hard DrivDigital Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s is a better bet

Yes i can get the XFX 850w Psu for $200 AUD the Corsair hx850 is $222 AUD. 22 bucks isnt much difference

I have read good reviews on the corsair, but i guess user experience is better judgement on the product so do you have any/had any experience with either and if so which is better?

Notel what monitor would you recommend for the 460gtx sli?

the samsung here in melbourne is $410 AUD so that would be giver or take 350 american dollars, what would you say be the better montior for $0-400 american dollars?

The XFX is a higher quality PSU design than the Corsair 850HX. So the XFX is better.
