could anyone please suggest me the components to build an Intel based HTPC...
This machine will be used purely to play Full HD movies, so no TV tuner required.

so please suggest for the following:

- Intel processor
- Mother board
- Ram
- Graphic Card Res. 1080i( that totally supports full HD movies without any frame drops)
- Sound Card ( HD 5.1 Surround)
- Special Heat sinks - if I should be using anything other than usual just in case you believe its gonna produce more heat.

I don't intend to compromise on the quality but would not like to spend tooo much either, so please suggest an optimum functional machine that serves my purpose and doesn't really burn a hole in my pocket.

thanks

Well, you are asking for an Intel based HTPC. AMD or Intel doesn't really matter all that much when it comes to an HTPC since both have similar heat profiles now and excellent onboard graphics.

Anyways:

Get two gigs of memory. Use the onboard for both video and sound (hopefully your TV has HDMI or DVI and you have a receiver for audio, you need to post more info about your setup). Heatsink depends on the case your using (what case is that??).

You leave a lot up in the air. You need to post what you're using already and what your theater hardware is. TV? Receiver?

Well except for the fact that an AMD build would be cheaper and still provide about the same feature set:
$56 - AMD Athlon X2 4850E 45W CPU

or

$60 - AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 CPU

$75 - Asus M3N78-VM GeForce 8200 HDMI mATX Motherboard

About $55 cheaper.

That was my point. ;)
