1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Light gaming if any might just stick with Linux basically an all around PC

Not particularly I'm just not all that impressed with Vista TBH.

I've just never built a computer on a Linux OS
 
Yeah thinking on it I don't really think there'll be too much gaming done on this right now, maybe down the road.
I'm not really sure what Windows 7 is bringing to the table I've been outta the game for awhile now.

Also why do you suggest the AMD dual core as opposed to a tri or even a quad core?

Your answers to the questions above pretty much tells us that you really don't need much CPU horsepower. When people say all around PC, they really mean just web browsing, listening to music, or word processing.

Just drop Vista and the video card from lt_shiro's build and you should be set. If you really want a tri-core CPU, just up the CPU to a X3 720 CPU or X4 945 if you want quad core. Same mobo though.

you could get a bigger display also like a 23" or 24" for like $50-$75 more.
