Building a file server...with a Celeron?

My DLink NAS has pissed me off for the last time. I keep getting wireless drops while transferring multi-GB files (system images, virtual machines, ISOs, etc.). I was originally looking at an ITX Phenom for a cheap SFF, but now that the NAS is being phased out, I need to look elsewhere. There don't seem to be any Phenom ITX boards with 5+ SATA...and I could pretty much build the computer I'm looking at below for the price of an i7.

So, here's the proposed build I'm looking at:

1. Lian Li PC-Q08. It holds 4 hard hard drives easily. I was looking at this case for an SFF performance build anyway.

2. Antec 380W Green PSU. I've looked at some other PSUs, and would prefer a 120mm fan one, but this is the cheapest one I've seen that was good quality & had enough SATA power connectors.

3. Jetway JNC64-LF Socket P ITX. 5 SATA, Gigabit, and even a PCI-E x16 slot I probably won't use.


The following are parts I have on hand:
4. Celeron 530 1.73ghz. Pulled from a friend's dead laptop. I figure at the very least it'll be more powerful than an Atom.

5. 4GB PC3-8500, left over from my upgrades.

6. 2x 1TB WD Green (pulled from the NAS and reformatted for NTFS)

7. 80GB WD Velociraptor

8. DVD+-DL.

9. Server 2008 R2 (TechNet)
 
Probably the biggest issue with that system is the fact that it includes a Jetway motherboard. Jetway is well known for low quality motherboards. I wouldn't want one in any sort of PC TBH.
 
Yeah the Jetway boards are tempting because of the prices and some of the features they have but I'd steer clear of them for sure. The PC-Q08 can hold 6 drives, by the way, as long as you're not using a long expansion card. If you forego an optical drive, even more.

I have one and love it for a server role. Stays cool enough as well, too.

It may give an atom 270 a run for its money, but the d510's or d525's should crush that celly..

How would this fare? it looks like it may fit the Q08 thanks to the 2 expansion slots.



I may need to just bite the bullet and go with something more powerful, as the Jetway was a gamble, and it sounds like it'd be bad one.

the q08 does support DTX so that will fit fine. & Its less of a gamble going with a zotac then a jetway, but still not exactly a safe bet. Having the 2 expansion slots is nice though & I would be tempted to go that way, But what are you needing the expansion for? a Sata expanion card for 1 i'm sure, but how about the other?
 
I don't need it, to be honest.

I'm just looking for things that have more than 4 SATA ports. The Jetway had 5, this has 6.


Selections are a bit limited at the moment, it would seem.
