At stock ??? Let's say about 5000 ppd combined.

 
Ahh.., someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you should maximise your 8800gs GPU first, it should get around 4500 to 4800 points by itself with a slight shader OC' of 1703 to 1750. I don't know what a e8400 stock (what's stock mean :confused:) would produce, but I do know a 8800gs will produce 4500 to 4800 points depending on the particular WU (that's with an easy Riva Tuner shader OC' of 1703 to 1750, I've got a ~$80 buck "el cheapo" EVGA 8800gs from the egg)

E8400 stock is 3.0 GHz dual core IIRC.

 
Overclock the shaders on the GPU to the max point they are stable. I doubt it will raise the GPU temp all the much and if it's purely for folding and no gaming on it, drop the core and RAM clocks a bit as well as that might shave a little off of the GPU temps.
