Hello all!!!

I just want to know if the Gaming cards also work for desing (3d rendering, photo and video editing), something like a 8600gts....

also a processor good enough and maybe some rams tips....:)

thanks in advanced...:D

For 3D rendering, yes gaming cards will work but not as well as the dedicated cards will. For Photoshop, you don't even need a dedicated video card. Not too sure about video editing though.

We can help you better select parts if you can answer these questions:
- What's your budget?
- What parts do you need for that budget?
- What size monitor do you have or plan to have?
- What games are you planning to play?
- Do you plan on overclocking?
- What country are you from?

We can help you better select parts if you can answer these questions:
- What's your budget? the budget is 1.5K
- What parts do you need for that budget? from processor to case (all)
- What size monitor do you have or plan to have? 19 to 20 inches LCD widescreen (budget)
- What games are you planning to play? not to much palying (flying simulator latest edition)
- Do you plan on overclocking? not for now
- What country are you from? Panama, but plan on buying everything on newegg, im flying to US on black friday...

thanks in advanced

Here's what I recommend:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 Stepping CPU - $270
G.SKILL F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ 2 x 2GB DDR2 800 RAM - $145
EVGA GeForce 8800GT 512MB PCI-E Video Card - $270
Samsung SpinPoint T Series HD321KJ 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - $75
Samsung SH-203B 20X DVD±R SATA DVD Burner - $34
Corsair HX620 620W PSU - $147
Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit OEM - $112
Hanns·G HW-199DPB Black 19" DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor - $170
----
Total: $1223 Plus tax and shipping

Now a part by part breakdown:
- It's been shown that a quad-core CPU does help with 3D rendering and video editing. And since you have the money, why not get one? PLus if you don't plan on upgrading for a while, definitely get the quad-core.
- For Photoshop, More RAM = Great. But you will need a 64bit OS in order to use all 4GB of RAM. Hence why I recommended Vista Home Premium 64bit.
- Now since you're planning on getting a 19" to 20" LCD monitor, the 8800GT is all that you need for those size monitors. Also, the 8800GT is the best bang for the buck video card IMO. It offers pretty close performance to the 8800GTX but costs half as much. Thats a great deal. Also, I included a 19" widescreen monitor as well.
- The Corsair 620HX 620W PSU is all the power that you really need. It's made by Seasonic, makers of some excellent quality PSUs.
- If you need more storage than the Samsung 320GB, then get a 500GB drive:
Western Digital WD5000AAKS 500GB 7200RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - $105

I didn't include a case or motherboard because those items depend on your needs and wants. So what features are you looking for in a motherboard? Here are a few recommendations:
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L Intel P35 Motherboard - $86
Abit IP35-E Intel P35 Motherboard - $90
Abit IP35 Intel P35 Motherboard - $124
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R Intel P35 Motherboard - $130
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P Intel P35 Motherboard - $145
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4 Intel P35 Motherboard - $178
Abit IP35 Pro Intel P35 Motherboard - $179

Just to help you out: If you don't need RAID, more than 4 SATA ports or legacy ports, then the IP35-E is a good choice. If you need legacy ports, than the DS3L. If you need firewire and RAID, than the IP35. If you don't need firewire but want 8 SATA ports, RAID, and legacy ports, than the DS3R is a good choice.

Cases are a personal choice item. So basically what looks good to me may look shit to you. So go on Newegg or browse around the Cases forums to find a case that you may like. But here are a few recommendations to get you started:
Cooler Master Elite 330 RC-330-KKN1-GP ATX Case - $40
Cooler Master Centurion 534 ATX Case - $40
Cooler Master Centurion 532 ATX Case - $50
Antec NSK4480 ATX Case - $79
COOLER MASTER RC-690-KKN1-GP ATX Case - $80
Antec Nine Hundred ATX Case - $120
Antec P180 ATX Case - $120
Antec P180B ATX Case - $125
Antec P182 ATX Case - $129
Thermaltake Armor VA8000BWS Full Tower ATX Case - $137
Thermaltake Armor VA8003BWS Full Tower ATX Case - $150
Coolermaster COSMOS 1000 RC-1000-KSN1-GP Full Tower ATX Case - $170
LIAN-LI PC-V1100A PLUS II - $220

Thank you so much for all your help... I will do my part of the homework to get it all set and will post the final build for ur final review...

thanks a lot, I really appreciate that!! :D

I agree with Danny.

Heh, nice time to fly on down. Newegg's black friday deals have been less than stellar, though. But its not like you have much choice. Some of the links Danny provided are for mwave, which is in Cali. How long are you staying? Will you be in Cali? If so, mwave, zipzoomfly, and clubit are all good alternatives to newegg -- if you're staying long enough.
