I have a friend who is looking to buy a new computer, and I talked him out of buying a premade, and offered my help to build it with him. So, here are the obligatory questions about what he wants it for:

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming, Photoshop, Video Editting. He wants it to not get outdated in the near future, as he doesn't upgrade his computers very often.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
1000-1200 USD, preferably with shipping + tax included.
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
He has a MicroCenter nearby, with 3.5% sales tax there, and 7% from Newegg.
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Everything? :p CPU, RAM, Hard Drive, SSD, PSU, GPU, ODD, etc.
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
None.
6) Will you be overclocking?
Nothing too extreme, but probably near 4.4-4.6, before Ivy Bridge turns into a volcano.
7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
I believe his is 1920x1080.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
In a couple weeks.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
DVD burner, USB 3.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
No.

Here's what I've put together so far, any opinions?

Yeah, lol. How'd you guess? :p

Yeah, lol. How'd you guess? :p

Newegg only charges tax in three states, CA, TN, and NJ, The sales tax in CA is roughly 8.75% or so and TN's sales tax is like 10%. So NJ had to be that 7%.

Anyway, since your friend is in NJ, buy as much of the parts as possible from Amazon.com since they don't charge tax to NJ residents. Though the CPU and mobo should be fine good to go from MC

Case wise, the Source 210 Elite is the better choice since it has an extra 140mm fan and USB 3.0 front panel. So I recommend that instead since it's $10 more:
$50 - NZXT Source 210 Elite White with Black Front Trim ATX Case

RAM wise, I recommend this:
$40 - Corsair CMV8GX3M2A1333C9 2 x 4GB DDR3 1333 RAM

HDD wise, I recommend this:
http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Barra...N3YI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1336863863&sr=8-2

You should be able to find the rest of the listed parts on Amazon.com
