Hello,

I've been asked to build a gamer pc for a friend, but I'm not really into the gaming requirements at the moment, so I thought I'd ask for your advice.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming - WOW, SWTOR, RIFT, Battlefield (the new ones), Metro 2033, Stalker

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Max 1200 USD, but we're from Denmark and the prices are higher than in the US. The components I've selected is almost 1200 USD, converted from DKK.

3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.

Most likely, but only if it doesn't get more expensive

7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?

Asap.

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.

The parts that I've found are the following:

Motherboard: MSI P67A-GD65
CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K Sandy Bridge
RAM: Corsair 8GB DDR3 1333Mhz (2x4GB) XMS3
GFX: MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC (1 GB)
HDD: 1 TB Seagate Barracuda 7200.12
DVD: Lite-On IHAS124-19 (picked the cheapest)
Case: Fractal Design Define R3 Black Pearl
PSU: Seasonic S12II-520Bronze 520W (picked the chepest one that I could find which had great reviews)

What do you think?
 
I'm not sure what your'e limited to in Denmark, but it looks good.
Be sure to check that the RAM is rated at 1.5v (not 1.65). Also, if you can get a z68 or z77 motherboard over the older p67 for not much more cost I'd go for it. Same for the CPU, if you can get a 3570k for the same price as the 2500k. 560ti can handle WoW, Rift, SWOTR fine... but for BF3 he won't be able to run at the highest settings at 1080p. Unless prices are way higher over there, with a $1200 budget he should be able to score something in the 560ti 448 core / gtx 570 range.

Thanks for your comments. I'm thinking about getting the i5 3570k, and then the MSI Z68A-G43 motherboard. What do you think about that? It has less features than the GD55, but I think it'll suit my needs.

Unfortunately the 560ti 448 code or 570 price is pretty high over here.
 
That's a good board. Between the two it loses a couple Sata ports, Firewire, Sli/Crossfire capability, and S/PDIF Out. If your friend doesn't any of that then I'd say your good.

Doh, totally thought he posted the Z77A-G43 that's what I was looking at for the comparison on Newegg.

Good board but there's a possibility that it may have shipped with an older BIOs. Which means that it may not support the i5 3570K out of the box and may not even boot with it long enough to update the firmware. So I recommend grabbing a Z77 mobo if you want absolute certainty that the motherboard will out work out of the box with the i5 3570K. Or just switch back to the 2500K.

Does the HD 6950 2GB or HD 7850 2GB cost around the same as the GTX 560 TI?

Thanks for the notice Danny. I've upgraded it to the Z77 model, it's just a bit more expensive.

The Club 3D Radeon HD 7850 (2 GB) is about the same price as the MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC (1 GB) that I've choosen so far. Would you choose the other one?

I'd go for the 7850 in that case since the extra VRAM will help out in BF3.
