Hi. Im a bit new here. But I was wondering if you could help me build a new system budget system. I plan on buying the parts here, But I plan on spending at most 250$ on the motherboard, cpu, and gfx cards. So based on the prices from the FST section, could you guys give me an idea of what I should look for? Thanks a lot! :D
 
Do you already have a case and a good psu? Are you just going to be using it for desktop work or do you want to play games? A decent gpu for new games will run you your whole budget, but if gaming is not important or you just want to play old games you can probably find some used stuff.
 
No memory?

For $250. You can get a i3 @ $105 @ microcenter and a cheap H55 gigabyte board from newegg for $90 or a AMD x4 system as alternative.

With $55 you can hopefully score a 9600gt or 8800gt in the FS forum. I scored a 8800gt the other day for $60.

With memory you don't have much options.

You probably have to go with core 2 duo system. Or hold out with i3 onboard graphics until you can get enough money.
 
I have the psu and ram already. :p. Im not looking for top of the line stuff. I dont have time to game really. I would just like to play a little when I come home to my parents house.
 
Actually. I was hoping for a budget mobo, with a e6600 core 2 duo, which would leave me with about 120-150$ for a gfx card?
 
Seeing how more games and apps are being crossed over to 4 threads or more you should go with 4 threaded processor. It will last you a long time instead of swapping boards or CPU.
 
The thing is. Im currently in college, and I already own a macbook pro which serves for light gaming I suppose. And quad cores right now are just outta my budget. So Id like just something that could run starcraft 2 LoL.
 
Uhm I'd get an Athlon II X3 435 for $75, a $60 770 DDR2 mobo (i assume you have DDR2 mem), and a Radeon 5750 or 4850 unless you can grab one of the awesome deals on a 5770 that pop up occasionally.
