Micro Center:

Phenom II X2 555 + 785G-E53 AM3 ATX = 109.99 + tax (http://www.microcenter.com/specials/promotions/0810_AMDbundle.html)
OCZ 4GB DDR3 = 89.99 - 15MIR (http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0317772)
Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 500 W = 54.99
Sony AD-7260S 24X SATA Internal DVD Burner = 17.99
Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB = 64.99
Cooler Master Elite 335 Case = 44.99

Tiger Direct:
Sapphire HD5770 1GB = 149.99-15

Total: 532.93 - 30 = 502.93 + tax (at microcenter, not sure about TD)

That's as low as I could find....

Ditch the shitty Coolermaster PSU and go with the higher quality Corsair 400CX. Besides that, looks good.

Awesome. It looks like the CPU + Mobo deal is OOS at Microcenter still :(

Would this be a good replacement, or do you have any other suggestions?

Nope. Older, less efficient (relatively low performance-to-clock-speed ratio), DDR2-only CPU with a DDR2-only motherboard (albeit one whose BIOS can be updated to support the latest AM3 CPUs). Plus, DDR2 memory is now equally as pricey as DDR3 memory per GB. Those make spending that much money on older technology that isn't easily upgradable pound-foolish.
