I'm working on a under $600 budget build computer. Nothing extremely fancy, just something for the basics, and very minimum gaming. This is what I have come up with so far.

Broadway Com 450W Mid Tower ATX/Micro ATX PC Case 6 bays (Beige) 204-4HA-P4 $30
Case
Asus MB & CPU Combo w/ Intel P4-530 (3.0GHZ - 800FSB - 1MB Cache) LGA775 $230
Board & CPU
Western Digital 100GB WD1000BB ATA/100 7200RPM - OEM $59
Hard Drive
NEC Beige IDE DVD Burner Model ND-3550A - OEM $39
DVD Burner
LITE-ON Beige ATAPI / E-IDE DVD-ROM Drive Model SOHD-16P9S Beige - OEM $20
DVD Drive
SAPPHIRE Radeon 9250 579 Video Card - OEM $48
Video Card
CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail $75.
RAM
The tower, board & cpu, and HD were all found on pricewatch, the rest is from new egg.

I was wondering if anyone had delt with the other companies other than new egg and how the experience was.

Also, I know it's not the best budget build out there or anything, but If anyone has any advice on it, I would appreciate it.

I dont like it.

The case and psu looks like crap. Get a antec case + psu combo. HERE

MOBO + CPU isnt great. Id get a Socket 754 Sempron and Biostar MOBO. HERE

If you arnt gaming on it, the onboard DX 9 graphics will work just fine.

For a HD, Id grab a SATA 250 Gig. HERE

Ram looks fine. Just add a black DVD burner and floppy(needed for sata drivers).

That my friend, is the best budget comp out there. Total is ~$400, or little more with shipping.

Newegg FTW, never had to shop elsewhere.

So the post said $600 and under budget build. You came close and I like some of your ideas but before shipping your build links cost $627. Maybe without the $119 video card it would work out those. Good call on the case.

I didn't notice that it wasnt free shipping!(bet you can find it for $10 cheaper if you do newegg and zipzoomfly.. they usually trade off the $$ crown a bit) Also, the vid card has $10MIR. You could save $5-10 or so if you didn't get a DVDRW that could do every type including DL like the one I posted. You could get a cheaper psu also, but Antec has never failed me and I believe a psu is a core part, will never buy another brand. You could also get a $10 cheaper mobo. But I go by the rule "You get what you pay for" Like my previous system was $1300(could've gotten it for about $1240) But I like the self assurance of good companies with nice warranties and not getting refurbs from Fry's or a company that has a bad support/RMA policy or anything. I figured wth I'm already spending $1250+, getting the $10 more items doesn't matter to me, just got to eat some ramen for a month :)

But I'll tell you one thing, don't let $20-30 stand in front of you being happy or not. I did this sort of thing with my old computer, and never again. Working an extra day-week w/e is well worth it.

Thanks everyone for your input on the build, I got some good advice. I don't have a fully revised build list yet, but I'll have one in a day or so and I'll post it.
