Machine for web surfing and office applications

$300 budget including shipping. but i have shoprunner for newegg and amazon prime so shipping should be free from these vendors

Already have Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor, Case, PSU and OS so just need to buy CPU, Mobo, RAM and HDD

No OCing. Resoultion will be 1440x900 on a 19' widescreen. Plan to build it march 2013. Motherboard needs intergrated video card as i wont need a dedicated card

PSU: 500W XCLICO
Case: Cool Master Centurion 5 (Mid tower, ATX)
OS: Windows 7 Home 64bit

i need to buy a HDD, but it doesnt have to be large, just enough for the OS, applications and small files. all of my media including music and movies are on a NAS.

That PSU is a bit too old for a modern system. Especially considering that it uses low quality caps. So I highly recommend getting a new PSU.

As for the case, it may be usable depending on how many fans it has and where they're installed. So how many fans doe it have? And what size are those fans? Also, What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? UEFI? etc.

will consider getting a new PSU. but then i'd have to sacrifice else where in my budget

case has two fans, one 80mm intake, one 120mm exhaust

motherboard only needs onboard video. usb 3.0 would be a bonus but not required.

I recommend this setup then:
$124 - Intel Core i3-3220 CPU
$73 - Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H Intel B75 mATX Motherboard
$46 - Corsair CMX8GX3M1A1333C9 8GB DDR3 1333 RAM
$45 - Corsair 430CX V2 430W PSU
-------
Total: $288 shipped.

For your needs, the above setup should work just fine. In addition, it also comes with a new PSU.
