Hey guys,
much appreciated if you guys could help me fix my brother's computer.
His computer specifications are as follows:
i3-540 (leftover from my old PC)
Gigabyte H55N-USB3 (New)
Prolimatech Samuel 17 (New) + S-Flex 800 rpm (leftover from my PC)
Corsair 4 gb (2x2gb) DDR3 ram (leftover from my PC)
WD 640gb 3.5" black HD (leftover from his old PC) - primary
WD 640gb 2.5"green HD (New) - secondary
Silverstone ST45SF (New)
Silverstone SG05 (New)
His original PC (which was my old PC) was perfectly fine but as I got the itch to go to a smaller form factor for my own PC, i naturally wanted to downsize his too (why couldn't I just leave a working PC alone?
)
Anyways, after putting it together and installing Windows 7 and everything, it seemed to be working fine. I get a text from my brother later and he says that the computer keeps freezing (i.e. sometimes the screen would have green/purple lines going across or it would just randomly freeze). I know that most of the stuff besides the PSU, motherboard, and secondary HD worked perfectly fine in their previous builds so I was thinking that it would be one of the new items. I didn't think that the secondary HD was the problem so I narrowed it down to the PSU and motherboard. How would I go about pinpointing which one is the problem? Also, if it was the motherboard, could it just be the onboard video and using a video card would solve the issues? I say this because it's not like the PSU is being taxed at all.
Thanks!
