Brawl is Coming!

I'm actually late to the Smash Bros. party. I only played the original VERY casually and never owned it.
I got into Melee, but only after it was a bargain item. I never really thought of the game as a "real" fighting game until I started to play more and more. It's so different that it skirts the line of fighting and even just a normal 2D platformer.
I'm not great, but I pick up on things pretty quickly. If I'm exposed to an exploit, I'll be able to duplicate it pretty easily. Ditto for any sort of unusual strategies. I tend to flock toward the big damage/slow moving sort of characters, so I'm good at finding ways to make slower characters seem faster than they should be.

Ike, Gannondorf, Bowser, DeDeDe and Donkey Kong should be right up your ally then. I'm very versatile with my characters as I play both Fox and Gannondorf very well. I'm not pro but I am a skilled combatant.

I'm looking especially forward to playing with all the characters and learning how to play decent with every single one.

We should trade Smash codes once the game comes out here... you should be a decent enough player if you know so much about the game.

It's now only about 8 days away before Brawl hits the states... can't wait to open the game and start messing around with vs modes for a little while before going into the Subspace Emissary. I'll probably start playing online once I have unlocked all the characters. Should only take me a day or two.

The Gamestop near me is having a release party starting at 10pm on Saturday, and the game is available at midnight. They're gonna have a tournament. I've gotta practice :).

Yea, many stores are receiving shipments right now! I'm betting Nintendo is stocking something insane like 3 million or something Brawl copies in the USA. Probably will sell over a million copies in the first week in the states. It has sold 1.4Million copies in Japan so far, and we typically outsell them.

Gamestop has all of the tournament info as well as a list of stores which will be open for a midnite release. It seems like most of them are.

I just picked up a Wii this morning, so I'll be ready for the Brawl launch in 7 days. :D

Yeah i reserved it today. Looking forward to it. Can not wait

Was going to reserve it at Gamestop for the midnight release, but fuck it, I'll preorder it at CC tomorrow for the $10 gift card on release - I can wait until Sunday morning for a free $10.

I also don't wait to deal with the regular Gamestop asshattery and the types of people who show up at midnight for a game, the more I think about it.

So, what's the deal with this? It's listed as being out on a Saturday/Sunday? I known Nintendo likes the weird days...but do stores ever sell these early?
I'm thinking that my local Target should have these at 10AM, yes? I bought Mario Galaxy, Halo 3, etc. there at opening time on a normal launch day.
Anyone have any feedback as I refuse to pre-buy anything...just due to moral reasons.

Places like BB and Gamestop are gearing up for midnight launch for Sunday. Places might already have the game today (or tomorrow, since T/W are the normal delivery days) but will be holding it for the release. And sometimes, some places break street date, whether because they forgot, or some employee didn't know the game should be kept in the back for another few days. But once stores open on Sunday, they should all be prepped and put on display to buy.

I'll stop by CC or Sears or something to get my copy on Sunday morning.

ya, I put my $5 down on it at my local EB games as there the only store in my town that does pre-orders. Aperently im pre-order #20 which surprised me lol, my ebgames is open for 8 hours sunday so I know ill be there when they open up lol.

I'll be trying my local Target Saturday night. They were out the night before for Galaxy, so I might get lucky again :D

4 more days. Will pick it up at Midnight even though I won't be able to play it until I get off work. At least with daylight savings time I will only have to wait 6 hours after I get the game till I can go home.

Whered ya get it? Local game store?

Can not wait til tomorrow night to play with my friend. As much as i'd rather be out at a bar, brawl is going to be an interesting saturday night

local video rental place had it up for rent already, gotta love socal.

I hope I'm not disappointed since Mario Galaxy and The New Metroid didn't get any play. But yeah, I am STOKED. I Will be teh Ninjah for SSB when Target opens in the Minneapolis area.

If you liked Melee you will like Brawl. (Unless you cannot let go of wavedashing or l-canceling)

I'm not sure why you didn't like Prime 3 or Galaxy's though, both where very good and I competed both.

Anyways 9.5 hours remain.

I enjoyed Melee but I am enjoying Brawl a whole lot more.

Should have just been named Super Smash Bros Awesome, imho.

Got Brawl at midnight, came home and played for an hour. It's like Melee, but on steroids. The final smash thing is really cool, just a little different. I tried playing with the wiimote, and there's a bit of a learning curve, so I went back to my wavebirds which have the same controls as Melee. Only did a couple multiplayer games, i'll see how everything else is in the morning.

Anyone else pick up a midnight copy? There was a lot more people at the mall than I expected, especially with at the tournament.

Can not stand playing with the controller settings so far. I have to go pick up a GC controller and pray it's better for me. Also havent tried wiimote/nunchuk yet.

I never played Melee so i'm used to n64 controllers, big time. Wish i could use that control fr this game

Controls in a game are a huge factor for me also. To the point that I don't veer off into new P.C. games often since I hate the daunting task of re-mapping all the keys to the way "I like it". I'm going to pick up some GC controllers after work.

my wii is connected to the internet wirelessly. But i can't seem to find anyone to play with online. I know there is a friend code exchange but how to i get the online mode to work?

I just see the "seeking" message in the player slots.

Another Wii game that denegrates the very gimmick it's designed to sell, the Wiimote motion sensing controller style. I don't have a GC controller, but I can guarantee it would be better with it.

this game is haaard with wiimote+nunchuck:( I may want to buy a classic controller or something.

I picked it up at midnight last night and have only used the GC controller. Thinking about trying to find a wavebird since the cord is so short. :(

Since getting the GC controller, this game is ton more fun. Classic is terrible. I wish i could map the movements on the classic to the + pad, then i'd enjoy it
