traded this old TV for this non-working computer. he said the mobo might be fried, which i think is probably right cause the idiot tried to run his computer at 3-4Ghz... it's a P4 1.5ghz processor. i was wondering, since the mobo is fried, and the processor is integrated....am i SOL? can i save the processor? is there a computer-defribulator?

INTEGRATED processor?! Fair enough. No, if it's fried, it's fried. RMA if it's still under warranty, which it probably isn't. Hopefully you got some working components in there, else you've got nothing.

well, it's got alright components...but the idea was that it was a PIII processor. of course, when i was googling it, it was SL4SH + INTEL and turned out to be 1.5Ghz :(

i've heard you can intergrate a processor with a blow torch. is this correct?

if he tried to run it at 3-4 ghz, can't you clear the cmos???

i doubt he would actually get it to start if he oc'd that much

These things are supposed to have temperature failsafes (if it's a decent brand). Perhaps you should try clearing the CMOS like the above poster said.

i would say 100%, mobos just dont die from overclocking. and i beleive p4s will throttle down the clcock speed if they get too hot.

rule #1: dont call others idiots if it can reflect...

afaik, p4s were never integrated. so i doubt yours is?? just clear the cmos and youll be up and running

you can make them intergrated with a blow torch

will do...however, i might be back to post on how to clear the CMOS, as i am an uber n00b with hardware :D

A brand name and model # for your computer could help us out a lot. More info needed here.

right, right. Abit SA6 is the model number, and the integrated processor reads:

Intel
FW82801BA
F025TB64
SL4SH
INTEL (M)(C) @ 99

eh? thought SL4SH + INTEL was P4..

you can tell from 82801ba that its not the processor youre looking at. hell, its not even the main chipset youre looking at..

heres a tip: the processor will have a big heatsink (chunk of metal) on it. it wont be exposed...

ohhh the thing with the fan on it, k, but how do i get it off, it's way stuck on...no screws or anything..

dont take anything apart yet. i'm going thru the manual for the cmos jumper. wait a few min.

Ok here we go;

Right next to the round watch battery you'll find jumper JP1 that is the cmos clear jumper. move that jumper to the other terminal for a couple of sec and then try a reboot of the system (for instance move the jumper from terminals 1&2 to 2&3) and then back to 1 &2 before you boot.

let us know if it does anything even fans running or strange beeps.

hehe i parted it out last night, i was just trying to figure out while looking at the mobo how to jumpstart it. when i get it in a case and try to boot it, i'll let everybody know how it turns out. thanks for your help!

Thats too bad because with help, you had a very good chance of getting it to work.

you shouldnt have to do anything to the P4, just clear the cmos, if you cant handle th jumper sttings thing, then just take that battery out and come back to it in a hour or so, and try to start up

does the pc start at all? do fans spin or you hit power and nothing happens at all? (check that all your cables are in tight and that the psu is on [little line pushed in, circle sticking up] good luck and just ingnore blowtorch references
