Bottleneck issues?

Hey everyone!

I've recently built a new computer, with the following components.

2x Toxic Saphire AMD Radeon HD 6950 2GB DDR5 gpus in crossfire
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UO3 Mobo
Corsiar Enthusiast Series TX750 Power supply
Thermaltake Chaser MKI Chasis
500GB Western Digital Caviar Black 7200RPM drive,
AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition 3.3Ghz, 9mb Cache, 2000Mh
16GB 1600Mhz G.Skill Ripjaw X Series DDR3
Corsair H80 Liquid Cooling system.

23.6 Inch ASUS LED HD monitor at 1920x1080 resolution through HDMI

I've added 200mm fan on the side pane.

So me being a total noob, thought I built a pretty decent computer, capable of pushing some decent marks. I'm pleased for the most part with playing the few games I've tested. Battlefield 3, and The Elder Scrolls, Skyrim.

But I cant help but feel like I'm getting bottlenecked... The Toxic cards are dual bios, and I've flashed them to 6970's, and still experience a bit an fps drop in Skyrim. Particularly when casting, I can see what seems like massive pixels overlapping in casts, or when I cast a spell, there are bits that just look off. Anyways, I need some help.

Can someone direct me to a thread, or link that can show me how to safely over clock my processor? And if realisticly the bottlneck is to high for a Thuban, should I just buy a i5 2500k, with a new mobo...

I should have done my research, as AMD is no where near the level they used to be years ago....

Please help, as even my marks in 3DMark and PCMark are meek at best considering the amount of money I've put into this..

Obviously, if I can manage a solution without spending much more money that would be much prefered, otherwise, what are my options to get the best performance for what I've spent, (ie what should I replace and/or part sell out of my current build)

Is it just Skyrim or do other games exhibit the same issues?

Are you using the latest beta drivers for AMD cards thats floating around the forums somewhere?

I've currently noticed the biggest eye sores with Skyrim, BF3 seems to drop out rates at times to.

But doing Unigine benchmarking, I hit lows of 12 fps... and highs of 180fps. That's not a marginal gap by any means..

And no, I've got the basic AMD drivers from disk... Perhaps it's done an update but I cant be positive (I'm not on my computer now)

So it may be, from what I read, a lack of compatability with Crossfire from Skyrim. Everyone is stating I'll get better results with a single card. Is this right? The game is preseting me to Ultra High already, but I run at a low of 30fps, a high of 60, but steady around 40 or so.

Any suggestions?

Like I somewhat mentioned earlier, there's a beta drive floating around somewhere that supposedly improves Skyrim's performance with Crossfire.

And yes it does appear that for now if you're using an AMD card, you should only use one card with Skyrim.

There is an ini fix for cf, and beta drivers. Check video card forum

Also you will wanna oc that CPU, as high as you can with reasonable volts. I don't know amd, so check oc/cooling forum. But shoot for 4-4.5ghz
