I rented it for the 360 played it for three long days off from work.
Fun game.

I've already seen dozens of exploits on the 360 game so far
There was a player level 999 in thier icon and level 99 when you target them the cap is 50 no?

They did insaine damage just smacking mobs around seems they had a lot of HP never saw them lose any life points

The buggies you can drive had 30 million shield hp is a bit much for a hack..

That and some other weapons mods/hacks I see players getting away with on Xbox Live

Makes me wonder how bad the cheating might be on the PC version?

Bought it for PC as that's my main gaming platform (the only console I own is a PS2). I've played a lot of SP and me and my bro have done quite a bit of LAN games, too. We haven't played much online (only a bit with some friends) so I can't speak on seeing any hacking or anything as I've not witnessed it personally.

I have it for the PC, and it's stupid fun. I'm already starting my 2nd char. The only problem for the PC would be the DLC content. It was released on Nov. 24th for consoles, but there is no news for it being released on PC. From what I've read, the company can't decided on the best method for the PC release because not everyone playing the game uses steam. I'm going to be pretty urked if it doesn't get released in some shape or form for the PC soon.

I'd definitely say PC but it's a blatant console port once you get into it.

Do you prefer FPS with a keyboard/mouse or a controller? Pick based on that, there's really no other major difference. "Exploits" exist across the platforms for this game. I myself have quite the arsenal of so-overpowered-I-never-use-them-in-normal-play weapons(200k raw dps guns are fun to make, but often less fun to shoot). You can bump your level up to something like 16 million, it's all done by hex editing the save files.

Here's what you *can't* do with hex editing saves: You can't give yourself more than 5 points in any class skill. You can't give yourself more than 50 proficiency in any weapon. You can't directly edit your health(you need to change your level instead). Weapon and item stats cannot be directly modified as you might remember from Diablo/Diablo II "trainers"(instead, parts must be combined whose effects are not entirely known, which is one of the reasons some of us do it for fun).

Really though, I haven't found it to be an issue in-game. Then again, I don't play it as much as I did when I first got it. I've never run across anyone using hacked weapons(well, obviously hacked) or uber levels in normal play, it's pointless really. I would very much like to try high-level(50-100k) hacked-weapon duels, but I'm having a hard time finding anyone else who wants to as well :( lol

PC. There's a simple solution to the hacking, and that is to limit yourself to only playing co-op with friends or people you know on line. I've done that, and I haven't seen a single hacker.

Also, regarding DLC I noticed that there was a DLC button added to the in-game Steam overlay. There's currently no content listed, but I suspect that's how they'll be releasing it once it's ready, which will probably be in the near future.

I got mine for 360 because my friends who have the game play on 360's -- no regrets -- go with what your friends have so you can game together.

PC.

But like others have said, if you are a multiplayer sort and your friends have the XBox 360 version, then there's your answer.
You won't get hacked if you play with your friends.(unless they don't like you anymore....):D

I voted PC,but a downside for the non-Xbox 360 version is that there is still no release date for the Zombie Island DLC. :(

Bought the 4 pack and played Co-Op with my friends on the PC.
I was a Solider, and my friends were the Tank, Hunter, and Lilith.
After the second playthrough we never touched it again.

It was a pretty average game, terrible console port, and extremely 'next gen' brown and gray.

You must have been playing a completely different game than I was.

All the environments and structures in the game (minus the snow level) were next gen brown or gray. The character and gun models were OK as well as the fire from the fire weapons, the green stuff from the corrosive weapons, and the sparks from the shocks weapons. However, the vast majority of the assets in the game, the stuff that makes up 90% of everything you see, was next gen brown and gray.

It's borderlands and not tropicalands?

Bought it for PC, turn the autoaim feature off and you are set.

I wonder if there is even an option for turning autoaim off in consoles. If so good luck with that ahahahha.

Like others said, wish I wouldnt ahve spent money on it. Terrible console port, no replay value (to me anyways) shitty ending, short as hell. All around disapointing IMO.

Multiplayer console FPS's are idiotic. I really don't understand the purpose of playing a first person shooter online with your friends on a console. The mere idea of using a thumbstick over a lazer mouse makes me cringe. I am reasonably sure everyone I know who has a PS3 or Xbox also has a PC they could game on, yet they do it anyways. I can understand the console for when you have friends over and want to play multiplayer games, but honestly nobody likes dividing the screen up into 4 boxes and using an inferior control setup to play FPS, and most console gamers play online anyways and don't even have friends over. I think the Wii has it right, emphasizing on group games and actually doing something ridiculous or amusing in front of the TV.

What it comes down to for me is:

Do I want my thumbs to get tired...

OR

Do I want to scream BOOM HEADSHOT every time I click my mouse.

PC, because no one touches my PC and it rocks. We own PS3, PSP, XBOX 360, PC and some of the older systems for wife's little bros when I used to be gone all the time, but my favorite is my private PC.

PC, but it's a console game at heart. Luckily tinkering with the .ini files helps make it better

I must admit after two weeks of play I moved on to L4D2 (which I much prefer) and I haven't touched it since. For a MMO, very little replay value. Loot whoring isn't my idea of a fun evening.

The matchmaking with Gamespy is utter shit. I found it very difficult to find a game on my story arc...

Now you can just download this little app: http://gbxforums.gearboxsoftware.com/showthread.php?t=85874

Super quick and easy. :)

For some reason, I just really took to the game. I didn't play it for loot whoring...I just enjoyed the gameplay, the settings, and doing the main story and sidequests. I literally left nothing undone in the game and I finished it yesterday.

The good thing about this game is that people can pick a character and play this thing just about any way they want. I went in with Mordecai the sniper and using him with the sniper rifles and pistols was just a blast. I'm at level 42 and I have some incredible weapons. I'm a force of nature. ;) I didn't try to whore...that's just from kicking ass and having fun and almost all single player to boot. :)

Agreed. I stopped trying pretty short into it and never really thought about it. The online is fun and great but not "an essential" at least for me.

I love this game! :)

I'm going to be picking it up for 360 just for this reason after Christmas. I would much prefer the PC version in any other circumstance, but my friends are broke so I have to game like a poor man too so I can play with them, lol.

I thoroughly enjoy the game on the PC, however it helps that I have a few friends who purchased it in the Group Pack deal from Steam with me on the PC so I have people to play with which makes it all the more fun. :p

Got my copy at amazon for $20.00

FPS games belong on the PC, period. Save your consoles for fighting/racing/sports/tetris games.

you absolutely need that little app posted to fix this game for PC. If you do that, PC for sure. if not, console. The game looks like garbage without vsync

I got it on PC and enjoyed it for a little while. You pretty much have to hack everything to make the game play the way it SHOULD play (e.g. you have to edit the .ini file to set the FOV and get port forwarding set up right for multiplayer).

Overall though, I found the game to be pretty boring once the excitement of loot farming gets old. Honestly, if you took out all the guns, what's left is a very boring shooter/RPG hybrid.
- Enemy AI is awful - they just run straight at you and keep shooting
- Your character level matters WAY too much. All damage is scaled to your level, meaning a lot of time you are either utterly worthless or else 1-hit-killing everything because your level isn't just right.
- Most of the quests are very bland. I never really cared about a quest I was on, the only motivation is the item/exp you get at the end.
- The driving controls suck big time
- The world feels mostly dead and artificial. I would've liked to see a lot more dynamic fighting between factions and stuff of that sort.

Overall it's a decent game that can be amusing for a little while. It's so disappointing though because it could've been much more. The four character classes are great, and the variety of weapons is just awesome. It's too bad they neglected pretty much every other aspect of the game. What I'd love to see is a game like Borderlands but with a world as large and detailed as Fallout 3. Now THAT would be pure awesomeness.

PC all the way!

True, but the good news was: Even as early as the day the game first came out people were all over this and at least we could do something about it.

Now people can simply download that nifty little app and never have to bother with the .ini files at all. :)

I just have to disagree with that. I wasn't playing for the sake of loot farming.

Some enemies do. "Time to pound...some meat puppets!" guy does and the midgets do but other enemies were doing flanks, dodging behind cover, and if they were up high on me they used that to their advantage.

Sometimes, yes.

- Most of the quests are very bland. I never really cared about a quest I was on, the only motivation is the item/exp you get at the end.

Again, sometimes yes, although there were certain sidquests that did actually add some much needed background to the game's main storyline.

- The driving controls suck big time

Not for me. Very simple to aim with the mouse and just go.

- The world feels mostly dead and artificial. I would've liked to see a lot more dynamic fighting between factions and stuff of that sort.

I would have loved to have seen that as well.

As much as I like the game, it certainly isn't perfect and I think you bring up some good criticisms that I hope can be addressed for part 2 some day down the road.

I think if there is a second game some day down the road, and I hope there will be, that your ideas in your post being addressed would pretty much put it over the top. :)

I was sold on the multiplayer, esp. since I could play on LAN (works through programs like Hamachi)
not everyone in my gaming circle owns either a 360 or PS3, but everyone is spec'd to run borderlands on their respective rigs

Got it for the PC, but getting it to work online was a PITA. Also, tried using the controller on my PC, but it was just too sluggish. Moved to the KBAM, and haven't changed back since.

However, the game sort of lost it's novelty about halfway through the second playthrough for me.

Yeah, gamespy is really horrible for this, but if you use Gameranger it seems to bypass all the multiplayer issues.
