Borderlands 4

Had to use CapFrameX with RivaTuner to capture this:

Aren't you limiting yourself to 60FPS? Or am I misreading that setting?

If I am, I don't mean too. My monitor is 240hz. What settings to make sure it's 240 and not 60? nVidia Control Panel and Windows Graphics Settings?

I hit level 47 this evening and I unlocked ultimate vault hunter level 2, so hopefully some better gear, legendary gear for me hasn't been a lot. The missions I'm doing are just incredibly intense, I built my character Amon to be able to take a lot of damage while also being able to dish it out, even if they get me down I can recover very quickly.

Run badass FG 2x with DLSS Q. Should be hitting about 90 fps or so.

I am still level 35. I am going to go ape shit in the middle section of the map soon. 68% story done. The space stuff was exciting for a bit. Gotta finish this so I can concentrate on BF6 more.

He should get up to 130 and maybe more, 120-130 average for my setup on badass. Zorachus make sure your monitors refresh rate is set to 240hz in Nvidia control panel and Windows graphics, also don't use any kind of vertical sync, frame caps or limiter, also make sure Gsync is enable.

Once you beat the game it's not over, a whole other dimension opens for the game, it's when you really start building your character into a boss with the added bonus of specialization points. There are probably a ton of places you haven't been through side missions and other quests, I'm 47 and still discovering new places and fighting new enemies and bosses.

Btw I run 130 fps on a 5090 I saw the person had a 5080 a made an educated guess.

That is Riva Tuner Statistics Software, aka RTSS.
I think most would consider both to be a total package, you typically don't use one without the other. I've never heard someone say install one without the other, and most refer to it as just Afterburner, but thanks, I've been unsure for the last 16 years about that.

I'm still plugging away at the game after being on vacation for a bit. I'm level 35'ish and have completed 2 of the 3 main quest branches. I think it says my completion percentage is around 50%.
I'm having fun with the game, but I'm not blown away by anything in it. I'm kinda getting bored of fighting the same 6-7 enemies over and over, although I do very much appreciate the sheer variety of weapons this time. They went above and beyond for creating different effects and firing modes and whatnot. I still hate some of them ("The Order" gear, mostly) but there are even some exceptions with those.

I used one Golden key out of my stash of 14 got a Vampric Jelly Germade mod. I haven't tested it out on anything just tossed a few around.

If you Rush the game your going yo get burned out fast. That is what happened to me in the 1st area. There is enough save points in the game where you can stop whenever.

I've used 2 golden keys so far. The first one was by accident (I thought it was a normal chest) and the second one was just for shits and gigs. I didn't get anything noteworthy from either.
On my end of things, weapon/item quality seems to go in waves. I'll go a while with all of my new drops having stats that are 20-30% lower than my better items. Then all of a sudden I'll get 3-4 items with great stats that end up lasting me for 5-6 levels in a row.
I'm at level 35 right now and I figure I'm not going to sweat anything that falls in my lap until I hit level 50. That's when I'll start caring about golden keys and getting good legendaries.

No clue if it's an option in Borderlands 4, but I'd love some way to make lower level gear gain levels. For instance, I'd love if that level 10 legendary grenade with 200dps could become a level 50 version of itself with 5000dps. Right now it feels like all my legendaries are kind of a waste.

I did the same thing. It didn't look like a Golden Chest from BL2, so of course I clicked on it to see what would happen. Oh, well.

Not going to use Golden Keys until I'm max level. Progression is the death of any great drop you find. I've found some great drops, but after about 5 or 6 character level-ups they become obsolete even to the trash. At least with max level that's not a problem.

Had the same experience in The Division 1/2.

Anyone else saving great Class Mod drops and stuffing them in the bank for a second playthrough using another class?

RTSS just does the in-game overlay. Afterburner is what is feeding it the sensor data.

You can use other apps to feed RTSS data, it's not restricted to just Afterburner. I use HWiNFO to feed RTSS my SSD temps, mobo temps and other sensor data that Afterburner doesn't support out-of-the-box. Basically, I use all three apps.

There used to be a third app from Unwinder called D3DOverrider. It was useful to force triple buffered vsync in games. Should be obvious why that's obsolete these days.

Correct, Afterburner and Riva Tuner work hand in hand which is why they are included in the same install package.

I did a little digging, and can't find any real info on Custom FPS Limit, but I would try setting it at your monitor's refresh, just in case you are getting past 60 FPS.

Every setting I reviewed last night shows my monitor's refresh is 240hz. In Windows 11 Display settings it states it @ 239hz. In nVidia Control Panel is states 240hz refresh rate set.

Is there an in-game setting to force it to go to 240?

Other games I play, like Diablo IV or WoW, I can press Ctrl-R or Ctrl-C to get a fps number on the screen, and those games will show like 191fps or 203fps, etc... so I know my PC settings are correct with refresh rate. Unless it's just Borderlands 4?

Due to timings and whatnot, you're never going to hit exactly 240 Hz.

I totally understand that, but my point is, I should surely be getting above 60hz. That FPS software I ran last night showed me getting 130fps with Badass ultra settings. But someone said it looked like I was only getting 60hz or something?

130 fps sounds about right for your card

Yes. If the UI doesn't provide it already, you can configure a custom value by editing the game user settings file using your favorite text editor.
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Borderlands 4\Saved\Config\Windows\GameUserSettings.ini
Then find and edit the line:
FrameRateLimit=97.000000
Save the file and restart BL4. You should now be mostly capped at that framerate.

Note that if you're being capped less than the in-game value it typically means something else is capping your framerate. Probably Nvidia App, Nvidia Control Panel or some other 3rd party app you're using.

Yeah- I just saw pic #2, where it looks like the game might be limiting to 60hz. If your monitoring software said 130hz it's probably not doing what I thought it would.

im like level 34 and I've hit a gear wall. I am getting very few drops of rare or greater gear and I'm not getting new weapons that are worth a damn. Think I've been using mostly the same 4 weapons since like lvl 28 or so.

Farm Splashzone for an hour. Quick before a nerf hits, it's OP farming. I go back every 4 levels for all new gear.

I’ve got my Harlowe build pretty well sorted at specialization level 30 or so. UVH5 is tricky but manageable with all the radiation damage and my rainbow vomit with spread launcher. So many awesome guns in the game but rainbow vomit has been my go to for most of it. It takes the whole switching guns to accommodate different health bars out of the equation, you can just use it on everything.

My go to in the past was always Jakobs guns though, and I recently learned that Vex can specialize in kinetic damage so I just started a new run with her. At level 4 I moseyed on over to splash zone and instantly got this crazy grenade that melts him almost instantly. Definitely looking forward to popping heads with this toon.

i'v ebeen trying to farm splatterhouse dude and genome and getting nothing.....I hate farming, its so boring but I need new weapons. I was really enjoying the game until this gear hole I got into.

Tried to also finish the last vault and was getting absolutely wreaked in the last horde area. the big shield dude plus 2 of those kinda monkey looking things with the super purple shields were just impossible for me to get through. first time in the game I've felt like I was playing the older titles where you get insta wreaked and feel like you can't do anything about it. I eventually gave up. the fun got sucked out of it.
