Borderlands 3

Interesting. It looks like his is shooting further than mine is. Mine seems to split at much closer range. It also seems like that "above 90%" anointment probably matters quite a bit.
I figure I'll try to get one again later tonight. I'm still weirded out that they just won't drop for me. Literally everything else is.

These are my finds so far. The cake is difficult to use on mobs, bosses it certainly can pack a punch. The OPQ is what single handedly allowed me to go from M2-3 to M6+. That and finding the shield that makes you immune to shock damage and rerolling the Mayhem to having enemies generate elemental pools. Stand in a shock pool and you're basically immortal if played smart.

I haven't actually even touched any of my build stuff. It's mostly "jack of all trades" stuff with a definite lean toward doing as much damage in Fl4k's Fade as possible.
I suppose I could probably combine some items, although I'm at the point where I mainly just want another Yellowcake that's at least a little better.
Mayhem 6 is the most I've tried with the mansion, although the OPQ might even make 10 possible if you went for a really durable build with specific damage stacks.

Guess I'm going to try the Claptrap farming method this weekend. I got another Mayhem 6 Yellowcake (finally) and it still isn't half as good as what these vids are showing. Without that special 300/90 anointment I just don't think it's that good. With roughly 15 runs through the mansion, I'm burned out on it.

EDIT: So this definitely seems to work. I'm *STILL* not getting any Yellowcake drops (or better OPQ's either), but my current Yellowcake seems to wreck the Claptrap waves. The actual boss takes basically no damage at all from anything, but the various minibosses and normal enemies get slaughtered. I'm also gaining levels/points left and right.

So, of the exclusive Mayhem 6+ weapons - which ones are worthwhile? I'd love a decent shotgun (other than the Lob, which is kinda its own thing) and a decent pistol or SMG.

Found this one doing the torque slaughter thingie so far I'm not impressed by it.

So spent about an hour farming the Claptrap pit. Did not go near as well as expected. Big haul was however an upgraded OPQ and a Firewall shield (meh). Both the OPQ and Yellowcake pulling me through. This was on Mayhem 6, so not sure I am ready for a Mayhem 8 farming go yet.

I've been able to do okay on Mayhem 10 (I finally got a pretty good Yellowcake with the 300/90 anointment), but there is so much chaos going on I prefer 8 and lower. Plus I feel like I keep pulling invincible Fish Slaps as boss enemies. I've gotten tons of other drops, but only one Yellowcake and no OPQ's. Mine (from Mayhem 4) does 5500x2, but only holds 22 rounds. I'd love one with that damage and 30+.
I think I'm going to go after a Sand Hawk at some point. I'm kinda bored of waiting for 2 drops that never seem to come.

I discovered a decent approach to farming the Mansion gear. Turn Mayhem totally off and blow through everything as quickly as possible. Once you get to the boss room, turn Mayhem on. You start over at the gate, but can run back to the bosses. You have to clear the enemies in front of the Mansion door, but that's all. With the bosses, the game gives you the same ones every time, even if you die. Fish Slap and Tyrone are at least IMO a hassle so if I see them I exit the game and try again. Josie and Terrorizer are the easiest ones and still drop the OPQ and (supposedly) Yellow cake. I haven't actually seen a YC drop since that update hit.
Anyway, kill those two then die. You can repeat this endlessly.

I finally got the Kaosan and Monarch earlier (neither of which are that great IMO) and will probably make a run at the Sand Hawk on my lunch break. Killing the same bosses over and over if getting pretty old, and it's even worse when the drop you want is anointed for another class or something pointless.
I feel like there are a ton of good weapons, but almost none of them are effective beyond Mayhem 5 except the YC and OPQ. That's kinda where the additional shields, health, and pure chaos relegate good weapons to simply not being enough.
I'm also noticing that the difference in my drops in the higher Mayhem isn't much. In grinding Traunt I was getting the exact same stuff at Mayhem 7-10. Same levels, effects, etc.
Wouldn't shock me to see them overhaul a lot of things related to this last patch. Beyond nerfing the OP'd new guns, I'm not seeing much justification for the new Mayhem modes.

Ran through the moxxi dlc this weekend. That was AWESOME. I don't see why the reviews are as such, one of the best I've played.

Got 2 yellowcakes from the random mini boss spawns. That thing is broken as hell and I love it.

Been running on MH4, really want to turn it up. Any of you [H] bastards farming MH10 wanna drag me along this weekend that'd be awesome

Sand Hawk was luckily a pretty easy farm. The Yellowcake kills that boss in 1 shot from Fade and it only took 6-7 tries :p
Like the other special drops, it feels kind of underpowered compared to the "Big 2." Once those get nerfed (or Mayhem gets tweaked) I imagine everything else will seem better.

IMO the Yellowcake is broken, but you basically have to get one of the ones that does 300/90%. If you do, any of them over 25K can carry you all the way to Mayhem 7-10.
It's really range specific, but once you get used to it it's hell on wheels. Wild guess, I bet they remove that stat and reduce your ammo by a ton. Then it'll be "meh" like most of the other launchers.

For what it's worth, the Mansion is probably the toughest area in the whole game in Mayhem mode. It's pretty easy to get surrounded. Plus, sometimes it's harder than other times. The dogs, troops, and flying sentries = way tougher than tinks and psychos. I played around with some of the other tougher areas and none of them are any tougher than the mansion, though. At least IMO.

Trying to find viable boosters and grenades is hard for me. Seems like all nades are just useless. I did just get one that once thrown boosts gun dmg 25% for 6 seconds. May come in handy. Booster, I have one from level 48 that gives AR dmg +18% and all guns +21%. Havent found anything that comes close to being more helpful. Anyone have a go to for each I should look out for? Im currently on M8 and the drops are pretty sad. I don't have any of the DLC so I guess that could be a big reason. I play mansion, killawatt and pandora usually.

Grenades are still okay unless you're cranking up the Mayhem levels. I just use whatever ones have the largest area of effect so I can toss them in a pile of enemies. Ghost Call is still what I use most of the time.
The class mod I use stacks Fl4k's critical hits and increases Atlas gunfire by 32%. The other stuff doesn't help, but those two things are primary needs for me.
I swap between an artifact that increases splash damage by 40% (aka. the Yellowcake booster) and the Pearl of ineffable Knowledge, which stacks damage again. It's great for fast firing weapons of all sorts.
Shields are the one thing I've kinda neglected. I'm just using the biggest one I could find that happened to have some other decent side effects. I know lots of people combine abilities and whatnot to abuse game mechanics, but I never found anything that worked like that.

Can you still farm the Ghost Call? Or was it the Halloween thing only?

Halloween only as far as I know. I haven't seen one drop since it ended and I bet I've gotten 500 gold grenade drops. There's one that makes fireballs rain on a pretty wide area that works in a similar way. It doesn't let you be as lazy as Ghost Call, but it seems to inflict more overall damage.

My current nade mods are shite on Mayhem 8, might as well not even use them.

Fish Slap is a pretty potent nade. Been happy with most of the ones I've gotten. Using a Moxxi's Bouncing Pair for now until I get an "It's Piss" with the right anointment.

I decided to try farming the Mansion for one last pair of YC and OPQ drops and of course I got the one filled with dogs with Fish Slap and Tyrone at the end 😒
That's basically the perfect storm to make the YC suck.

EDIT: I did end up getting a 38K x 2 Yellowcake drop, although the anointment was 75% more damage to named foes. In use, it seems to do roughly the exact same damage as my earlier 35K with the 300/90 anointment. Trick is, you run out of ammo way faster. I'm definitely going to keep it, though. Once this thing gets nerfed some lesser versions might end up being better.

I have ben playing a new playtrough with Moze this tome and found a lvl 45-ish OPQ and have some effect where crits restore some ammo, this thing is kicking so much ass for leveling atm I barely need anything else, not even running out of ammo.

Cleaned the whole casino with it and I also have a lvl 15 something version on Samara which is also lot's of fun.

I would like to find a max lvl monocle sniper rifle, those also are fun to play with.

I have so many random ass guns that I probably need to try out in the plain 'ol non-Mayhem (or M1-3) Necrotefeyo level. Basically everything feels like hot garbage once you try to play over M5. Whenever new content hits I'll probably play it on the normal difficulty anyway.

I expect that one of the last major updates for this game will be to raise level cap to 60 and add pearlescent weapons - then it's back to farming for me!

It'll be interesting to see how long they plan to keep this game going like this. There are at least 2 more DLC packs coming this year. Will they bother with a Season 2 or just trickle out stuff like the mansion? I'm still having fun with the game right now, but I can't see myself being on board for another year.
I'd like to see something else akin to the Maliwan Takedown. Something really challenging and designed for strong characters, but isn't stupid and chaotic like Mayhem requires.

I started tinkering with some different Fl4k build elements this morning and have found a decent one that causes absolute devastation...but he dies really easily. With the new maximum level of 53, you can fill up most of the red and green skill tiers. Meaning you can have the elite skills for both trees at the same time. With all of the various damage stacks you can absolutely shred stuff in fade. It comes back super quickly, too. Especially with the pearl and a rapid-fire rifle. With the YC, I swap over to an artifact that increases splash damage by 50%.
The trick is, you end up having to sacrifice most of the skills that keep you alive in the process. The best way to alleviate that (that I found) is mod that takes your health to 1 but doubles your shield. Tons of things still shred your shield almost instantly, but it's at least something.
I was wrecking the VIP tower on Mayhem 10 using this, although the Jack Robot has been buffed so much that almost nothing hurts him very much after M5.

While it didn't impress me initially, I'm noticing the Sand Hawk does DAMAGE. While the bullets aren't nearly as fast, it melts enemies almost as well as the OPQ does. At least from medium range. It also seems to hurt certain foes (not elementally protected ones either), that nothing else seems to.
Right now I'm still running around with the OPQ and Yellowcake as my mains, but the Sand Hawk is now what I'm using as a sniper. I was using the Lob in my 4th slot, but it has fallen way behind the others in damage output. I haven't gotten a decent Lob drop in forever either. The game keeps throwing the same 3-4 SMG's at me over and over and frankly I think all of them kinda suck right now.

I finally got the OPQ drop I've been wanting (8000x2, 30 rounds, and 75% more damage to named enemies) so I think I'm done with Borderlands 3 for now. I figure that even with nerfs, that should hold up. I've started seeing purple Atlas rifles with 5000x2 damage, so maybe they won't touch it? Compared to the Sand Hawk, which I've discovered is ungodly strong, I dunno if the OPQ is even that amazing. On the upper Mayhem difficulties it lacks punch even with the pearl and a shitload of damage stack abilities/gear.
Then again, with the way the Yellowcake mauls everything, that's going to be the easiest target for nerfing. It wrecks anything except Jack's Robot, which is now the most powerful boss in the game on Mayhem 10.

anyone else lose surround sound in this game after some update? I haven't played in a while but I no longer have surround sound in the game. Settings in windows are correct and it works elsewhere.

Surround/Atmos is still working for me in this game, although something (probably from Microsoft) makes my speaker array reset every single time I reboot my machine. Other games, (like RDR2) require me to power my TV and Amp off to get sound about 1/2 the time. I think MS rolled something out in one of these patch Tuesday releases that changed how multi-channel sound works.

If you want some more legendaries visit eden-6 now for the special mini event there
  • Floodmoor Basin: Pistols and Class Mods
  • The Anvil: SMGs
  • Jacob's Estate: Assault Rifles and Shields
  • Voracious Canopy: Sniper Rifles
  • Ambermire: Shotguns and Grenade Mods
  • Blackbarrel Cellars: Heavy Weapons and Artifacts

What's a decent pistol at the moment? I've found that the further I got into the game, the weaker that pistols and SMG's have felt. In both cases it just feels like AR's and Snipers have done the same thing but better...with some exceptions. The Kaosan seems okay (but not great), but I haven't gotten a pistol any better than the Lucky 7 one with the randomized effects and (occasional) free Fade effect.
