For gaming I'd recommend the 5850. Costs more, but if you're gaming it's worth putting $$ from the budget towards it. An i5 750 is overkill for the 5770 listed above, way too much CPU / too little GPU IMO; Blu-ray burning also isn't particularly CPU-straining. I'd say a 5850 and an Athlon II X4 630 would balance right. I'd suggest the X3 720 BE, but you're not overclocking so no need for the BE. If you really want LGA 1156 an i3 530 isn't a bad way to go, but is more expensive than the X4 630 and has two cores.
I'd recommend the case/PSU combo, hard drive and BD burner Danny listed, the RAM lt shiro listed (since you're not overclocking there's no reason for 1600), but make these changes:

$430 from above recommendations

GIGABYTE GA-770TA-UD3 AM3 AMD 770 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 103$ shipped
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128419
AMD Athlon II X4 630 Propus 2.8GHz 100$ shipped
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...cm_re=Athlon_II_X4_630-_-19-103-704-_-Product
XFX HD-585A-ZNFC Radeon HD 5850 318$ shipped
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150442&cm_re=5850-_-14-150-442-_-Product

= 951$ total. not sure if Danny included shipping in his figures or not though... should still meet your budget nevertheless

The OP is using Photoshop so there the i5 750 would not be an overly bad choice. In addition, I feel that the X4 630 is too little CPU. IMO, the X4 630 is a poor CPU for gaming and would not balance right with the HD 5850.

With that said, if the greater emphasis is on gaming, not photoshop, then yeah a HD 5850 would be the better choice. To acheive a greater balance, I would recommend the following then:

$223 - AMD Phenom II X4 925 CPU + Gigabyte GA-770TA-UD3 AMD3 AMD 770 Motherboard Combo
$310 - XFX HD-585A-ZNFC Radeon HD 5850 1GB PCI-E Video Card
$105 - G.Skill Ripjaw Series F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL 2 x 2GB DDR3 1600 RAM

Total: $983 plus tax and shipping

Also that Corsair RAM was a one-day only sale. It's back up to $109. So the G.Skill RAM I recommended earlier is the better choice.

@ Danny Bui - Good combo deal on the CPU / Mobo. That CPU has 6MB L3 and 2MB L2. Would go for that build OP, costs a few $$ more but still within budget.

I have the same RAM (G Skill) and it's worked out nice for me. Haven't tried it at 1600 yet, but since there's so little performance gain from 1333 I doubt I'll even bother.

Actually I found an even better deal:
$238 - AMD Phenom II X4 955 CPU + GIGABYTE GA-770TA-UD3 AM3 AMD 770 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard Combo.

Total should be $998 plus tax and shipping. Cutting it close but totally worth it. In gaming, you probably notice a difference between the i5 750 and the Phenom II X4 955.

Yup. No need to mention that you're going to do it. I'm sure alot of people who buy blank DVD+R and DVD-R disk don't buy it mainly to backup gigs of data.

That is a better deal if it fits in his budget. Naa for a 5850 both CPUs will perform equally, now two in crossfire and you'd be right.
