recently i blew up my tagan psu over heating it, i now need a new power supply, i was using a tagan tg580-u22 psu but shopping around there doesnt seem to be any suppliers in my area selling the same model, can i upgrade to a 600w or will that break my system? what other brand should i consider buying? any help would be great! thanks.

ull be fine as long as you don't go under your wattage needs. all bigger does is allow you to add more stuff to ur PC

You can always go higher in terms of PSU wattage... even if you're not increasing your load dramatically, it'll give you more headroom.

opened it up and the fuse had been brought to a boil :| the smell that came out of it was strong and then there were a few parts that had been burned out. i was optimistic that it was just the fuse.. so i replaced it. however upon turning it on once again, POP and a big blue spark came out.

however my new one turned up today, installed it and very happy (first time replacing a psu)
and now it all works well :D

i bought a Tagan TG600-U33 600w 2-Force II ordered from overclockers.uk and got it the next day, set it up and brought life back to my pc :D
