It was powered by 3 systems, but one kb and mouse. The six in the middle were the main machine. The 2 on one side and 2 on the other were each run by their own machines. The side machines were used for apps that ran constantly and always in view and I didn't want them eating up resources from the main machine. For example, I had my financial app and itunes on the left, email and download manager on the right. Of course, there was usually more going on, but that just gives you an idea of what might take up the bulk of those extra pixels.
The one complaint that I had (besides using TN panels) was that they were all oriented landscape. Other than movies and games, everything else works better on portrait. You waste so many pixels by going wide.
It's almost 2012. The end is near. Do you really want to die without experiencing greatness? Multimonitor is always greater than single monitor. Always. Even when you think it isn't. It is.Anyway, I might agree but I've never used a multi display setup so I can't comment.
That's my point exactly. My first real monitor upgrade (out of the CRT world) was to a 24" Dell LCD. That was pretty awesome for gaming, but quickly I decided to add two 4:3 19 inchers for the rest of the time. Then I turned the 24" portrait and it was like a new world. Being able to see an entire webpage on a screen at once is great...Though I can see your point, even while I am typing this. So much white space on the left and right of this box, between the links on the top of the page, white space between them, etc.. Yet I have to scroll down about 5 times what I'm currently seeing.
