Pushing 517 mhash/s with my 5850 (317 mhash/s) and 5770 (200 mhash/s). Total system wattage is ~435 with the monitors off. ~615 with them on. I hate the fact that there's an opencl bug when using more than 1 gpu for computation. My cpu is being peg'd at 50% cause of it. I'm sure system wattage would be lower if it wasn't for that.

Temps are sitting kinda high. 5770 is at 86C and 5850 is at 78C. Tomorrow will be tough because of the heat.

What version of the ati stream are you using?

According to sources.

"To get the maximum performance use the 2.1 release of the ATI Stream SDK. 2.2 wastes CPU time, and 2.3/2.4 drop mining performance by 5-10% unless using the Phoenix phatk kernel."

Looks like it's 2.2. How do I downgrade to 2.1. The 2.2 came bundle with 10.10 cat drivers

Yeah if I could grab a 2.1 link to download that would be sweet. My 5ghz 2600k is pegged at 30% mining with 2 6970's....

how do you even check?

I checked the version in the "program and features" in windows 7. It tells you the version next to it. I tried installed the ati stream sdk 2.1 but when I run guiminer, it tells me no opencl devices found.

switched to phoenix and flags
DEVICE=0 VECTORS BFI_INT BIT_ALIGN FASTLOOP=false AGGRESSION=12 -k phatk
went from 370 to 380 Mhash's on 5870 at 900/1150

That Nvidia card is useless and will only eat away at your profits by increasing your energy bill.

It's not using any more electricity now than it was for F@H/distributed.net. I know that in a purely mathematical sense it may be worthless, but I was already spending the power on it anyway. At least now I'm getting a little return from it. I'm half in this for the money, and half just for the hell of it.

And it will be a moot point if the HD5830 I ordered actually ships.

all I have is ATI Catalyst Install Manager

Ugh. Me too. Not recognizing the gpu.

Edit: You know what? I'm wondering if you need a matching driver version.

I dunno. SDK 2.2 came bundle with 10.10. I don't know how people are getting 2.1 to work

wait, you can use the nvidia at the same time?
Could i do that and use the nvidia for cuda?

Guys, the high cpu usage is due to the way AMD implements OpenCL (Nvidia too but they are largely irrelevant in this case). As I understand it; It makes the CPU spin wait ready to kick in to help if the card is about to approach 100% usage, and since the card is constantly loaded at 99% the CPU is locked in a permanent spin waiting state.

P.S: Coins back up to ~$24 :D

P.P.S: To help with the high CPU usage, you can try using this: http://grano.la/software/benefits.php

The Linux live distro for mining probably uses 2.1 and boots from USB. I'm going to use that.

I guess there's no fix for it and it's a bug with AMD. Can't get SDK 2.1 working either. Setting affinity to one core reduces the total cpu load from 50% to 25%. Oh and changing "Processor power management max state" to 5% should keep the cpu from running at full speed.

Ugh. Slush is either on maintenance or getting DDOS'd, my miners auto switched to BTCGuild.

Use higher -f values. Try -f30.
Yeah lower values give higher priority to the process. For Phoenix users the equivalent command is AGGRESSION and it works the opposite way, high value for high priority, low value for low priority.

Assuming a typical setup on Windows 7, it should be in C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin.

Is this really hard on wireless adapters or something? For some reason if I'm running Guiminer (phoenix, aggression 8) and remote into the computer, the wireless tends to lose connection (and doesn't regain it unless I restart).

IDK, but I'd guess yes, even most folding rigs I've seen pics of are hardwired...

I've got a coin in on the www.bitegg.net site for $20. Haven't recieved my gift card yet and it's been almost 2 days. I did recieve a reply back promptly when asked if I had proceeded correctly through his website. He did say that newegg causes some delays on the gift cards though. I'll update if/when I recieve mine.

Guess simplecoin.us is down. Awesome. Actually found something I liked.

my guess is that HE'S causing the delay, to see if he can sell the BTC really high and get a return on that $20 gift card...

just sayin...

spendbitcoins only took a few hours to email me my giftcard...

Does remoting into the computer affect the guiminer? I know I couldn't start guiminer whenever I remoted into my pc.

I couldn't start Phoenix when RDPed into my PC. But if I used logmein, it worked just fine.

So where do I fine my wallet thingy? I want to back it up.

Or more simply, %AppData%\Bitcoin on any Windows system.

Yeah, RDP does weird things with the video driver. I use TightVNC to connect to my other box.

I'm using teamviewer to remote into my pc. It's been working good so far.

Anyone have any idea if I can set a proxy server with GUI miner? (or any other miners). It's the only way out of the building here at work and pretty much all of the other DC clients have a proxy option. Just curious if there's anything for bitcoin.

Yup, it seems connecting through remote desktop doesn't give you access to the video cards, so if you're using a program like GUIminer, your video cards will not be available as options.

anyone else have a solo miner outside their pools...? I have two GPUs mining in pools and another solo mining (4870, blech, ~90MH/s, but it's all I have right now to do this), I know it's a extremely low probability, but I'm hoping to basically "hit the lottery" with it since the block generation is totally random, IF it ever does find a block it'll basically deposit more bitcoins into my wallet than all my GPUs could hope to mine in their lifetimes anyway (50), so I figure it's worth the "wasted" 100MH/s...

thoughts...?

no doubt, but as long as I get my GC in a reasonable amount of time it's not too bad. However reasonable is coming close, very close...

Provantage. Only 5 left as of right now
