Big Ratpadz XT Question

  • If thinner, make it stronger somehow (metal backplate?).
  • I'd prefer no KB cutout.
  • 14x12 sounds good.
  • DIY sheet ordering would be awesome.

is it getting larger then? my GS is about done and i was considering purchasing the XT. if it's going to get a revision in the near future, i will hold off. :)

I do not think so, from what I understand IF this makes it out, it will be a VERY limited run and will cost a good bit more than the XT pad, I think it was said in the $50 range or so, don't quote me though.

small pad = less precision via higher sensitivity

larger pad = more precision via lower sensitivity. At least 2x the area to dial in on frags.

Don't forget things like photoshop, I drop sensitivity all the time for precise drawing etc, and if the area is large I often find myself running out of pad area which then ruins my perfect form.

For the people wanting the mouse pad without a curvve, why not just turn it around 180 degrees and have the curve at the top? On the Ratzpadz XT, the tapper is identical top and bottom, so turning it just removes the curve.

A metal backplate isn't a very good idea. It would severely hurt the ability to use wireless mice.

because then it looks funny..

and gives you less usable space on the pad.

fuck it all I just ordered the OG version of the XT for $20.

So I got my pad in today, but noticed a fairly sizable divot in the side. Is there any Kyle shortcut or do I have contact ratpadz?

Does that just bother you aesthetically? Because I can't imagine that hindering performance.

Yeah it's just asthetic but I turn the pad sideways so the ding faces me...not such a big deal but you know.

I want a thinner one. I'm currently using a $20 double-sided Rocketfish pad I picked up from Best Buy and I prefer it to the Ratzpad, which was unnecessarily thick. I don't know if it was made thick so that it could be curved, but I saw no point to the curvature, either.

funny, i just replaced my double sided rocketfish with ratzpad. ill agree i like the rocketfish one because its thinner and bigger but the surface is nowhere near as nice as the ratzpad

hell I think I could go for a HalfPadz XT, I only use a third of the RatPadz XT lol and it might be nice for a laptop

The curve serves a purpose, it is a place for the wrist to rest as you move the mouse left to right.

HOWEVER...

That curve is not necessary if you make the ratpadz as slim as other mouse pads, e.g. the func surface 1030 or steel series mousepads. Make the thing slimmer than 1/8" and you will no longer need the curve.

[H] logo or not. The overall size is decent, but If it meets that thickness dimension I will fucking buy one. Guaranteed. I might pay a couple dollars more for one with a [H] logo on it, but others might not.

That pad tracks like crap especially with a laser mouse.

Tracks fine with my DeathAdder & my Copperhead I had previously. At least on the Control Side. I haven't used the speed side at all.

Might work well enough with an optical but my Ikari and Sidewinder didn't like that pad much. I haven't tried my DA on it though.
