Before you forum crawlers start your whinning. I already did a search but I didn't find the answer. So move along if you have seen this type of post before.

I just installed the newest Forceware 71.84 Drivers. Before I had the original BFG drivers that were on the disk that came with the card. Whatever rev # that was. It was old real old and I'll leave it at that. So I installed coolbits and ran the optimal settings and everything is running fine. 586Mhz and 1.17 GHz. Nice little Bump from the Stock settings.

Anyway, I was just wondering does the BFG 6600GT OC have a thermal sensor. Or is it only the 6800 GT series cards that have it. I just installed coolbits. And there is no Temperature Tab. I've heard about updating the Video Bios. But I'd rather not do that unless I know for sure it will be pretty straight forward and won't void the warranty.

Any non-sarcastic help with this simple question will help. Otherwise don't answer this post.

I don't know specifically about the BFG, but I have two Gigabyte 6600GT's and both of them have the temp tab/sensor.

I'm seeing temps on my 6800GT OC. I'm using NVTweak to enable coolbits, so I can't say if the option was there before I ran NVTweak. Try using NVTweak and see if that fixes ya.

Only had my BFG 6800 GT OC for two weeks but several versions of the Forceware driver included a temperature tab.

Thanks for the Replies. Be nice if some 6600GT OC owners checked in here. So far I'm right, only the 6800 Series has it available.

My XFX 6600GT has the temperature diode enabled by default as well. All 6600GT videocards, regardless of make, including your BFG board have the thermal diode on chip, but for whatever reason some manufacturers prefer to disable user access to it. You will have to reflash your bios to one that supports the on chip diode readings. I suspect in doing so you will void your warranty.

Thanks for the replies 6600 users!

Although, I should have made it clearer for BFG 6600 GT OC owners. I have seen that that Tab is enabled on the XFX Cards. I just can't seem to find any information regarding the BFG cards. And I know there are quite a few owners of this card, on these forums.

I could still use some help on this question.

Thanks

Was my response not clear enough? The BFG board is based on nvidia's reference PCB layout, and features the same exact GPU and RAM as any other reference board, such as the XFX boards etc. The thermal diode is present on your board, just as it is on an XFX board. BFG chose to disable user access to the temperature readings - THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN GET TEMP READINGS IS BY REFLASHING YOUR BIOS!
That's the long and the short of it, I'm not sure what else you are looking for if that doesn't answer your question.

I've had a BFG 6600GT OC about 3 months and through several driver versions it has always had a working Temperature tab.

HAHA that's what I get for checking these forums after work all tired. My bad. I can't believe I missed your post. Damn do I feel stupid. Ah well. I've never flashed a Video BIOS. Is it really that complicated? Or is it pretty straight forward like flashing Mobo BIOS?

Agian. What a tool I am for missing your post. I deserve the  emoticon. :)
